Wasn't me. I haven't said anything negative about the LS-1 swap in about 2 years. I also only leave neg rep points (a rare occurence) when somebody is just plain being an ******* to another member or if it's someone who just doesn't get that there's a search function. I never give them out to someone who is just stating their views, unlike a lot of childish dicks here....

I hear you there.....that's why my rebuild project is using a hi-flow cat and the BNR Stage 3 twins....I hope to hit 350 rwhp on pump gas while still being able to pass a smog test (with no changes). I'm too old to be getting harrassed by cops and I certainly don't want to deal with bribing smog techs....

I've yet to see an LS-1 conversion in person or ride in on....maybe I'll see you and your car at a local meet some time.

You would also need custom headers $800-$1000 the other bolt on stuff $1500 or more and the subframe. At the end of the day to do it right would be about the same as 20B. On the up side with the right gearing you should be able to get around 30mpg on the road.
Hmm, I have ~2000 dollars in my LS1/Transmission with ~500 RWHP. Weird.

Stay true brother and build the motor right.

Crate motors aren't exactly bang for the buck. You can buy hellaciously built motors for what a crate LS6/LS2 would cost you.

Im with Drew,

A 402CI LS2 block good for 800 hp = $4k
AFR 225 heads = $2.5k

550rwhp N/A, 750 on a 200 shot, no worries.

Ouch emissions suck, I'm extremely glad I live in florida where I don't need to pass any emissions regulations. Cops don't care if you have no cats, they thought my friends 96' 350 s10 was baddass, headers and 3ft. of pipe+ some flowmasters (still loud as ****). As for v8 and rotaries, it's all personally preference. I personally love being the underdog with a 1.3t. You pull up to that very proud, smiling c4 owner and take him off the line and in the straight.

Hate to break it to you but your numbers are WAY off.

This is the cheapest 550rwhp LS2 I have seen http://www.rapidmotorsports.com/mode...=2&intYearId=3

It is $10,600 and doesnt include intake manifold, windage tray, oil pan or rear cover or tuning.

There is no way you can get 550rwhp NA even with an LSX based motor for $6500 so please dont imply you can.

He's not that far off. Sure he's leaving a bunch of stuff that adds up out of it, but he's not astronomically wrong.

My point wasn't that you could make XXX HP for $XXXX. The point was that for the cost of a crate LS2 engine (~$5900 at Pace parts), you could do better with a built motor from Texas Speed, SDPC, Cartek, etc.

Doesn't sound all that cheap to me.

have you seen this?

With heads and a cam they're quoting ~$6500.

Agreed, but there's no reason to spend $11K on a motor to do it either.
