Crazy 6 speed thoughts
Anyone ever consider a C5 Corvette transaxle and LS1 in an FC? Probably not worth the effort, but I'd want to see the weight distribution on an FC with the conventional 6 speed and all the accessories such as power steering and AC first.
Thanks, I have. There are good numbers for FDs with LS1s with everything connected, but I have yet to find numbers for an FC with power steering and AC intact let alone functional.
Hmm. Have you looked at www.torquecentral.com ?
FC's do fine with v8s.
Kurkis carburated 355 out autocrossed a Z06 and a STi. Someone with a LT1 10th AE came out 60 lbs heavier on the *** end. Bad handling my ***! A transaxle and rear transmission would simply result in it being *** heavy - which might be good for track duity, but then you might as well bust out some wings, race tires.... and a competetion liscense.

www.wrongmotor.com has AC and power steering I believe.

why not to use the C-vette Transaxle and crap
The Corvette Transaxle isn't a good idea, but I'll outline why...
It's expensive, (1), the shifter and stuff is connected to the trans with bailing wire and string, provinding a 'funny' feel that you'ld probably hate (2) you'ld have to shorten the torque tube and modify the rear end *spend more money* (3) you'ld gain an expensive part to fix wence you decided to start making big power numbers (4)
you're better off with the conventional T56 / LS1 combination reusing the mazda rear end and suspension.
