$6,500 to 9,000 for a LS1 pending on mileage and parts used. That's a DIY build using the Hinson kit.

True, but 2MCHPWR can probably give you a good idea of how much you'll spend after Hinson gets done with the car to fix all the issues that are still remaining...

Since core LS1 engines and transmissions vary relatively little in price these days (unless you're buying new direct from GM or a dealership), the final cost will depend more on how much of the swap you can do yourself, how much of your existing equipment you can sell to recover some of the cost, and how complete the donor engine and transmission are (wiring harness, ECM, etc.).

There are several threads on this forum and on Torque Central outlining the cost of the swap, including an itemized list posted by Drewman/Wingsfan, I believe.

I think Drew killed his posts there when you did, didn't he?

Regardless, there are several threads itemizing the costs, but as alluded to in this thread, it can vary wildly depending on what you want to do; some have done it for a couple thousand dollars and fabricated most of the stuff themselves, others, like Jim, have went all out and done everything the "right" way, and have substantially more invested.

I think Jimlab is a little over three thousand invested now, right Jim?

Yes, most of them, but I think he posted the same information on this forum.

About the cost of rebuilding/porting/tuning/doing up one rotary engine pretty nicely.

What kind'a '7 is this going in to? Because certain things like drivelines can suffer from the torque of LS1s (or any V8 swap) and need upgrading depending on the model.

If you have the patience and ability (and possibly money depending on how "well" you do the swap), in my opinion, I'd do it. Why not?

I priced the radiator high it was about 250 shipped my error, but the speedo calibrator was 300 because the ls is a digi speedo while the RX is analog so the conversion is 300.

Dakota Digital is all you need. It's 80 bucks.

The Dakota Digital SGI-5 will not convert a mechanical speedo output to work with an electronic gauge...

Hmm.. I thought that's how it worked since everyone uses it along with their swap..

In FDs...

No conversion is required to interface with an FD's electronic speedometer, other than recalibration using a Dakota Digital SGI-5 or Granatelli GranSpeedo. FCs, on the other hand, have a mechanical speedometer and require a conversion box like the one below which cost about $300. The alternative is to convert the T56 to mechanical output using a JTR modified tailhousing for about $350.
