Build thread! Action! Danger! A driveway!
Hehehe I'm bad, I'm so bad sometimes. Currently I'm trying to get it regged, but an issue reared its head, wish me luck! If I can't get the penalties off the registration the price will be almost 700 bucks. O.O
Just drove it through the mountains last night, other than forgetting to tighten the lugs and pulling out a fuel pump wire when i jumped out it worked pretty well! Kind of a monster...
Oh man the car is sick! Im loving the stock guage setup
. Now I'm guessing you have the stock gears in the rear 3.93s? If so, does it feel super low and are the rpms screeming at highway speeds? I know you said ur doing canyons but are you gonna change the gears or put a different rear in it?

Haha gauges everywhere! I took the center stack cue from the viper and the hood from a few older muscle cars, and the fake woodgrain from old mopars. It's a pretty short rear end but not terrible, 65-70ish is not bad. Works fine in the canyons, if i hold on to it a while it could use some 3.73s in an 8.8 so I can abuse the living crap out of the rear.
nice work, i would definitely give it a second look if i heard that sound from that car.
looks like too many switches though, hope you have some failsafes built in somewhere. i hate switches, i try to keep everything automatic.

Thanks man, and no I like switches, if I forget the fan then it overheats, flip the wrong one and I'll kill the engine instead of the high beams lols. It's running even better now that I dialed in the timing, ungodly fast and the RS-3s are breaking in. Just need to camber it more, corner weight it, add good seats, and do a few other things and she'll be a killer.
Had fun at sevenstock, check out my friend's pictures, lots of fun stuff as we paced the caravan in the beast snapping pictures. He took some real knockout pics.

It does, going to get it tuned tomorrow, made 300 wheel on a crap crap tune. I'm sorting it out still, figuring out what makes it better and worse, next update vid will be full of stories and awesomeness.
wierd, my tent was at the end of that row and i don't remember seeing that car, maybe you had to drive around the back because i know i wouldn't have forgotten seeing a park bench grill roll by.
well figured I'd pop in. saw that youtube vid featured by rx7club on facebook and could not believe the hate you were getting in the comments. I approve, you are a rat rodder. props for doing something different and awesome even though I am a fan of the rotary. I too, may be diverging from the triangles with my FC due to money but I love the chassis. I can't help but feel that my lack of funds will lead my FC down a similar path as you. I've been looking into 1jz swaps even though I have a t2 I need to rebuild. need a turbo and intercooler, exhaust, rear end for my FC too though. My FC is an 86, not quite as bad shape as your FB body wise but still pretty bad. doesn't stop me from feeling cool driving it though and still get some compliments since there none around here. I am a function over form guy as well. Keep up the good work. I believe that rat rodders have a way to "clear coat" over your cars look as it sits now. not sure if it is as simple as clearing but there is a way if you were interested in keeping it from rusting apart over long term. just an fyi.

most rat rodders actually don't clear coat over the exterior and let the rust do its job, more rust gives it a more distinguished look.
but if you do want to keep it from rotting out all you really have to do is get all the loose junk off the surface, degrease it and then shoot the clear on over everything. but you have to keep the clear maintained because if it ever lifts you can't strip it off and save the original paint.
here is what it looks like with a clear over a 40 year old original exterior.

here you can see the hood a little bit in the background:

the roof is a solid sheet of rust.

^I lust after a REPU but I can't even get my FC done properly lol. someday...
some rat rodders clear, some don't. eventually you wouldn't want the rust to turn to rot too much though so thats why I brought it up.
You know I have been to car meets, HIN, auto shows. but that FB is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen. Just makes me feel that vibe of kid spirit "I just want it to go fast, be loud, and scare the **** out of myself". idk, I have seen a lot of cars. it's hard to explain, I guess this one just gets me the most excited. first time I saw it and what it had under the hood, the whole package, I just couldn't help but smirk
. guess its just my genre of car.
