this is going to get kicked to "other engine conversions" in about 2 seconds, where it will never be seen again.

Dont you know that people hate pistons here! Here comes the flames!

Looks pretty nice though. Is that sway bar behind that pully?

A serious question here, why not just by a used corvette. I bet if you tally up all the money spent on this project, including the cost of the car you'd be over 10k, easily into the range of a decent used early 90's 6spd vette.

Actually the Ls1 swap in an fc is pretty cheap, no where near 10k if it is just a straight swap.

I dont think this project is in the 10k's. And an early 90's vett for 10k is a pretty sorry vett in my book. I guess your idea of decent is 130,000 miles with everything totally worn out?

Its funny how they just dump any engine swaped car into this forum. I think the admins believe that an rx-7 with a non-rotary engine is no longer an rx-7. I'm sure if you swapped in some other non-mazda rotary, they would keep it in the main fourm. Theres a reason why people post about there non-rotary rx-7 in the main forum, and its not to ask questions about the swap, its to show it off; and theres nothing wrong with that. Plenty of people show off their rotary powered car and ask no questions, maybe those should be given the same treatment and moved to a different forum.

A second gen RX-7, with no matter what engine, is still a second gen RX-7.

I'm glad i did my swap. I'll have to add 'to spite guys like Barban' to my list of good things about a swap.

Nice troll barban, and good job violating all the forum rules as well.

Thanks, I try. These threads are here to reduce clutter/confusion and because its the appropriate section. These boards are viewed all the time. Its not like youve been sent to solitary.

Can you blame rotary owners for not liking v8 and other piston conversions. A rotary engine almost defines the rx breed. Its like you said that our cars arent good enough. Theres gonna be some tension, but I seriously doubt that the forum admins are so hellbent on dissuading the engine choices of others that they try to kill them by sending their threads off to some distant galaxy.

Its just segregation baby. Seperate and equal. For god's sake you have entire online forums dedicated to you. Theres even a brand new one as of tonight. I dont see what youre complaining for other than being "whiney".

Is it really that cheap???

Damn, more power, more reliable. Im THIS close in going LS1 when my engine pops. I know i said in the past i would never do that but idk, i wanna enjoy my car more and me being paranoid that if i wanna do a couple of wot sprints, then go back to idle or something, the car is all f'ed up. I dont wanna deal with it anymore.

I guess ill see and enjoy the rotary while it lasts, then decide.

Are you guys still using stock Tii rear end on the LS1 swap? With the 4.10 gear ratio, you probably don't use 1st gear at all.

I would do the swap, but the rear end options on Tii sucks! If someone can find me some 3.27 final drive gears to bolt up to the T56, i would take on the swap in a heart beat.

Well honestly, i never had an engine problem with my car since the day i got it. It was always little stuff. First year was a clutch problem. Last year was a grounding problem and this year is a possible TPS issue. I know those problems could come with any car but with my luck, once i get those sorted out, **** like a blown engine will soon be in my way. I dont want to deal with that so im trying to prepare mentally now that if a blown engine does happen, i wont spend or try not to spend a shitload of money on another money pit rotary and go simpler like an LS1 like everyone else is doing.

Truthfully, im not a fan of V8 at all, not so much the potential of it cause it has lots of it but the sound and the overall outlook of it. V8 has been out since god knows how long. In my past posts about an FD being unique literally meant that we all know V8's are fast, for someone to see a nicely done Rx7 that still has a perfectly running, well tuned rotary is something people will still admire. Cause we all know our cars are known to be unreliable so when people see a rotary doing good, being driven hard everyday without the problems, they soon change their mentality on it. Thats what i was getting at in the past about keeping the rotary in it. Cause if we all go LS1, what happens to the rotary?? lol Dont say rx8 cause thats being exstinct already lol

But yeah we'll soon see. I actually contemplated (sp) once, the very first time ever since i owned the FD, about selling it. Before buying it, i already knew i wont sell it unless it was a life or death situation or if i die, i rather have a family member sell it so it wont remind them of me (yeah i know, sorta weird but some people will understand). My neighbors mock me, my parents mock me about not driving the car everyday. I wish i can but im paranoid knowing that just a short fun cruise will result in me in a tow truck while the FD is sitting on the flat bed being towed home. lol.

Call me weird but thats what im feeling now.
