Slightly Modded '88 TII 1/4

Only got about 5 runs in before the clutch decided to spit out a spring (I hope it's just this) the car wouldn't shift for a little while.

Runs were at Darlington, SC 1/4 mile track, air temps in the 40's

Mods to the car (to my knowledge)
-Gutted Pre Cat
-Tomei BOV.
-BONEZ Intake with HKS knockoff filter.
-HKS Fuel Cut Defensor.

I've only had this car for a couple of weeks and this was the first time I drove it hard. Rear shocks are blown and I was running my regular rear tire pressure (~30 PSI)

My best time.
R/T: .817
60': 2.146
330: 6.156
1/8: 9.501 MPH: 73.95
1000:12.380
1/4: 14.789 MPH: 94.78

My partner's best time (he's 140lbs lighter and very experienced drag racer)
R/T: .953
60': 2.192
330: 6.238
1/8: 9.493 MPH: 75.70
1000: 12.253
1/4: 14.582 MPH: 96.57

Unfortunately my partner only got one run in it before the drivetrain problems finished the night for us, I think with a few more runs he could've got a few more tenths off of it.

How are these numbers for a stock exhaust S4?

Looks like some respectable numbers. Are you running stock boost? I was hitting 8psi on the stock exhaust when I bought my T2. Huge holes in the system. Either way this is a good indication of a at least fairly healthy engine.

I've done nothing to up the boost from the stock levels. When I bought the car, the precat is gutted and there is an aftermarket intake on the car.

I had to add the HKS Fuel Cut Defensor because I was hitting boost cut at WOT from slight boost spikes.

There's an automter guage on the car, and I've seen some spikes go past 8 psi, but I honestly don't know how accurate it is.

We have a new dyno going in, and I'd be interested to see what she runs at the wheels before going any further, just to get a baseline before adding some of the power mods I'm planning.

I was very pleasantly suprised with the results, I honestly think we could've squeezed a 13.3 out of her with my partner driving, he had only one run before the clutch popped the spring.

you mean 14.3! and yes this will be possible if you guys can get your 60ft. below 2.0! and also drop the tire pressure down.

Yeah... 14.3... LOL

The rear struts are in really bad shape, so the 60 fts will come down once they're replaced.

My partner is a very experienced drag racer, so with a few runs, I think he could've adapted to the rear end dance and brought them down.

With a 3" exhaust and downpipe, and some fuel management, we may be able to hit the mid 13's. I have a SAFC and we are currently looking for a nice 3" inlet cannister to design a system on. I have a resonated test pipe that we will use in place of the cat in the system, and I'll probably use a 3" Cherry Bomb in the system to keep the noise reasonable. SC has no emissions laws to speak of, so might as well take advantage of them.

There's supposed to be a dyno opening locally, so I'm interested in getting a baseline chart before adding that stuff to the system. Since we're custom building the downpipe and exhaust, it's gonna be interesting to see how much HP we can gain with our design.

I'm currently trying to track down some used shocks and springs to get the car back under control, so the exhaust will have to wait for more money to come in so we can do it right.

ACT Clutch ordered with a Street/Strip disc and a Xtreme pressure plate. Won't be on the car for this week's test and tune, but there's an import event next weekend that we'll try to make.

You definately have some good times there, but just keep in mind that you are being helped out by boost at 8psi (5.5 stock). The intake and the gutted precat would cause the boost to rise.

Let us know what you are able to pull off when you go back. Keep up the good work.
