'89 GXL ready to rock

Forewarning all the times below are being quoted at 4700ft above sea level so bear with me. Anyways I ran my '89 auto earlier this year and screamed at 20.6@72mph! I slugged it to 30mph due to my shitty automatic. Now the car was entirely stock at the time. Since then I've ditched the old airbox in favor of a cone filter and replaced my cats with a straight pipe fromt the manifold all the way to the y-pipe. Tuned the motor and got new plugs and 8mm wires. Just minor modifications to the motor but here's whats got me stoked. The auto was replaced with a TII transmission and with it a 12.5lb racing flywheel and a TII clutch. I'm running royal purple motor and gear oil and the car just purrs now and is WAY faster off the line and down the road. I want to push it as far into the 16's as possible because I doubt it will break 15's especially with the 3.90 rear its got in it. So with a new trans and some minor engine mods (dropped 150lbs off the cars factory wieght too) I'm ready to run friday night. Does anyone think these mods are good for a 4 second increase? I mean my stock '81 ran a 17.1@76mph and I have faith I can run faster in this car. The motor runs at its full potential and the car feels great. So 16's?

A stock s5 NA 5 speed would be in the 16's. Your car should have no problem making it there.

on a good compression motor with a good driver you could hit a high 15 in a stock 2nd gen.

Hehe I ran the car and here's what I found out the hard way. I ran the first time and it ran 18 flat so I was like "WTF!" the car is running like ****! Anyways I come to find out that my AT computer was supposed to be unplugged and my 5th and 6th ports weren't opening. Thats right my ports weren't opening and haven't been for a while. So after close inspection I noticed a hissing noise coming from behind the intake manifold. Low and behold there were two hoses disconnected. Reconnected them and bam. Suddenly the car screams past 4k rpm. I mean it feels like the car became turbocharged. Whats funny was the hoses probably got disconnected when I replaced my busted auto trans with another one about a year back. I was curious as to why my car was slower with the new auto in. Whats funny was I beat alot of cars on the freeway with ports shut and an automatic trans.
