88TII at the track firt time after rebuild

Ok.... here are my three runs from last friday at Cecil County MD

#1) 14.44 @ 99MPH 2.7sec 60ft time (dumped it and lost boost off the line) 7PSI whole trip

#2) 14.23 @ 103MPH 2.4Sec 60ft time (still getting used to launching with boost)
#3 14.01 @ 106 MPH 2.3Sec 60ft time (getting better)
#4) 13.87 @ 109.5MPH 2.2Sec 60 ft time (Launched MUCH better, kept boost up... BUT..... Cheap Kelly Tires lost it, spun and hopped in first and second and slid around when boost kicked in third... hey they were on the car when i bought it and i spent all my money on turbo, FMIC and engine rebuilds)

#2#3and #4 were made launching at 7 PSI and hitting the switch to 12 PSI after shifting to second gear.

haltech Datalogs show 12.4 PSI max on 2nd 3rd and 4th. and scattered RPM numbers as the tires lost it and the wheels hopped, even a little bit in third gear!!!

I got a BNR stage III, and an FMIC, was making 12 PSI within a few datapoints after shifting (shift light is set at 6750). The FMIC is killer, after heatsoaking at the line, air temps were around 150, at the stripe at 12PSI there were around 110!)

With that top speed, and the power it feels like its got... i need to get tires, Dif mounts, Shocks (the ones that are on it are shot) and wheels.

Suggestions on getting this thing out of the hole quicker??? At 109.5 MPH, i should be in the low 13's high 12's......

109.5 trap is good for 12's

Get some better tires and not only will your ET drop dramatically, but I think you'll find your trap speed creeping up a bit.

drop your tire pressure. Run about 10psi in the rears. That dropped my 60ft by about .2 seconds

i was getting 2.0 60fts on falken azenis sports (autocross tires)

my car seems to launch the best with between 20-25psi. also i was running 40psi on my first pass the other day with these tires and it was hopping reeeeal bad. i dropped it to 25 and it hooked up perfect.

also, make sure you do a big smokey burnout before to roll up to the line... believe it or not it makes a huge difference if you have some decent tires that get a little stickier if you heat them up.

Lemme tell ya about the tires that are on this car... The chick I bought the car off of said "i just had brand new tires put on it"..... I took one look at them and about puked... friggin Kelly Chargers.. they have a Square Block pattern on then that is about an INCH high, and they are made out of what appears to be re-cycled Ken Dolls for as hard as they are.... I dropped them to 25 PSi on the last run and they STILL spunn and hopped and slid around like a bumble bee on the war-path.

I thought, well, I can't see ditchin brand new tires to put 17's on, so I'll keep these tires until i burn them off, that shouldn't take long..... Yeah... Right.

These friggin ******** on wheels don't even give you a warning when they are about to break loose... no howl, no growl.. they'll just slide right off the road in a corner... its like driving on peanut butter....

If these tires were a woman, they'd be my Ex's Mother... Hard, nasty, Scary, Ugly and not worth riding if you PAID me to.

I hate them.... god help me I hate them so......

Drop them some more. I've got some douglas perfomance tires or something from walmart, they're just as pathetic. Drop em to 10-15.

Around 18-20 psi, that neighborhood will work fine. DO NOT BURNOUT ON STREET TIRES!! It will actually slow you down. ONLY SLICKS NEED A BURNOUT. Street tires just need a good couple of slips on DRY pavement to clean the surface of any dirt/rocks or even nothing at all.

It depends on the track and how they prep the burnout surface. If they spray it with water, don't burnout on it. Otherwise, go ahead.

I've been toying with the idea of putting a line lock on the car... used to have one on my 66 fairlane with a supercharged 390 and that was FUN.... lets repeat that... FUN But that car never got much over 65 MPH anywhere but the track cause it handled like a bathtub on rollerskates...

two concerns... legality and saftey... no experince with line locks since... dunno if they are legal for inspection (that subject has just never came up wile hanging out at my buddies service station) and I'd be kinda worried that the friggin brakes might fail because of it

Nah, don't get a linelock. You're better off with a spare set of TII wheels and a set of drag slicks Racing on drag slicks is an entirely different world.

get new shocks..........if your wheels are hoping around they are usless, worse the tires then non-hoping spinning tires......

it will make a huge difference even with your shity tires......
