1/4 mile first time

ok i have a 1990 TII with 3" exhasut and 3" downpipe and fluidyne radiator. aftermarket BOV. i thought these were supposed to run low 15 high 14 stock. well i had ten runs last night and the best i got was a 16.07@86.6. WTF i thought i should have got way faster then that. i had decent launches for the first time a the track and i shifted perfect everytime. had half a tank of gas and i weigh in about 280lbs any ideas whats wrong.

my car has about 45kms on mazda reman and i forgot to mention i have FCD.

Thanks
patrick

I don't personally own a turbo, or know much about turbos but you might have your boost kicking in too high

well these are old cars. could be any number of sensors, bad fuel controlling, boost leak, combination of those.

well i have installed an aftermarket boost gauge and it says i run 10psi. but i have no extra fuel going in do you think if i got a bigger pump then it would give it enough fuel to feel like 10psi?

you need a fuel controller like the APexi SAFCII. and some tuning. the pump would be good too but your going nowheres without any control of your fuel

did you say a reman with 45 kilometers on it?????????

Because if you only have 45kms on it you should not be running it at the track. unless you mean 45000 kilometers

Dang, thats slow as hell. There is something seriously wrong with your car. You shouldn't need any type of fuel control to run 14's with your car. If I were you, I would create an ecu code reader as decribed on this site(search for it) to see what's up with your engine.

the car will cut fuel to the rear rotor if boost is a couple psi over stock get a fuel cut defender that might help some

That traps are indication of the power potential.
It looks like you're not launching hard enough.

What RPM are you launching at?
Most FC turbos need to be launched at 4k to 5kRPM.

Do you have a 60-foot time for us?

No kidding, you should be running very low 14s. If you lose 100lbs, you'd crack a 15.97

ok i got the walbro 255 installed and am now looking at some fuel upgrades. tell me if this is a good way to go here or what is the best way to get into the 14s.

get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to increase my FP, then a boost controller to up my boost to fit the needs of the fuel. is that ok or how should i go about this?? would i need an Air/Fuel ratio gauge?? and a fuel pressure gauge??

here is my fastest time slip yet

R/T..........652
60'..........2.301
330........6.661
1/8........10.324
MPH.......67.02
1000.....13.456
1/4........16.079
MPH........86.06

i was launching between 4500-6000RPM with bald tires and getting decent launchs. that was the best out of 10 runs that night.

some advice from people would be really helpful. it kinda sucks having a turbo 7 and peopel think its fast when i got beat by a monte carlo LS, and a ******* CRX.

thanks alot guys
Patrick

tinyfc87, there must be something wrong in your car, i have a 90 turboll and i ran a 14.9 and the only upgrades he has is 3'' downpipe, turbosmart bov and an intake. like you said check the injectors to see if theyre working properly.

i am going to take alot of **** apart tomorow and find out whats going on.

tonight i was on my way to hooters and my car just suddenly started idling really rough, like so hard it shakes the car and the shifter was going crazy. my vac gauge was bouncing around between like 10-6 hwen at idle its normally at like 11. and it was hard to take off it kept wanting to die but imma check my injectors, plugs, vac lines, idle sensors and ****. i need to figure out whats wrong.

any ideas??

I know you probaly dont want to do this but you should test the compression of the motor b/c 16 is pretty slow for a TII. Good luck.

bald tires? how do you expect to do decent times without good tires? your times seem really slow...try launching at 5500k and shift well, no power shifting you dont want to break your daily driver.

practice makes perfect.
