Talking Took the FD to the track for the first time PIX and SLIPS

Finally got to take the FD to the track to see what it can do. My current mods are DP, MP, PFS exhuast. Engine bay is bone stock. Here are some pictures

Taking some air out of the tires at the gas station wanting for my boy steven

Heres a cool picture of me waiting to run..(the eclipse in front of me blew something cause he was pushing it when i got to the booth where you get your slip)
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_006-med.jpg

Ok now heres the time Slips..

First Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_020-med.jpg
15.333 @ 98.60 First time at the track with a RWD car and nerves went side ways and it felt like for ever trying to get traction. Very embrassing. I raced a 240sx Turbo. I don't know if he had a DET all i saw was an Intercooler.

Second Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_019-med.jpg
13.723 @ 103.51 Launched a lower and i kinda bogged but i picked up speed quick ran against a 2001 prelude.

Third Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_018-med.jpg
14.220 @ 103.92 Feel asleep at the line and rolled off the line. I got a higher trap but lower 1/4 mile  I ran against a 2003 accord 4 door EX

Fourth Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_017-med.jpg
13.807 @ 104.67 Stayed w/ the same technique from the second run bogged a little again. Trap got higher and i dropped my 1/4 mile from the previous one. I ran against a 2000 Honda civic si w/ a swapped B18c5

Fifth Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_016-med.jpg
13.796 @ 104.93 Sticked with the same technique cause i didn't want to break lose again time going down again and trap higher but at this point im pissed cause im getting lined up w/ slower cars and im not getting any good competition. I raced a 6 banger plymouth dart

Sixth Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_015-med.jpg
13.785 @ 104.05 At this point im pretty pissed one cause im stuck in the 13.7 and i know i can run faster not to metion my friend from work was running his mouth all week how i would be able to hit a 13.6 and i knew he was gonna rag on me all week about it and last i keep getting lined up w/ slower cars that i could beat. I raced a 1992 Civic hatch w/ a GSR this run.

Seventh Run
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_014-med.jpg
13.616 @ 103.72 Finally I got some motivation!!! While i was in line waiting to run this Subrau WRX STi revvs up next to me and gives me this cocky *** look. I look over at him already in a bad mood and just nod. We go to pull up to the line and I cross the line and rev up and dump the clutch peeling out and going side ways to my lane. He looks over at me and i nod again and smile then rev at him. Im amped up for this run so i back up and warm up the tires. We line up and he bounces like 3 cars on me I was like f*** this I get a 2.1 60 foot and by the 330 Im flying pass this guy look at him while im passing him laughing then rock hazards. On the video you can hear the PA guy sayin it looks like the RX-7 is pulling and o he's rocking the flashers he's winning. Man that was a great race well at least for me before i saw my time i was already happy as hell i beat the STi.

Final Run

http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...es_012-med.jpg
13.749 @ 102.41 I had a good launch but i took it easy on this run. I could of hit a 13.6 but i let off after third I was racing that same Hatch back i did in a previous run. The LS1 z28 and Neon next to me didn't get to line up with me. I wanted to run ethier one cause I was in a great mood after that STi race.

I had a good time at the track and im happy with the times i got. But next time i'll denfinitly drop my 1/4 to 13.5's it has the trap to do so i just need to improve my 60 foot mostly my launch.

yeah nice times. I noticed you are running a MP with no boost controller. How do you keep boost at ~10?

Not necessarily, I run intake/dp/mp/cb. With a bleeder valve on my pre-control and a profec spec II and i have almost a perfect 10-8-10 depending on weather conditions (dam that profec is sensitive to weather) no spikes here at all.

Also DeviousDevice7TT just wondering what u use to control ur boost? and whats your pattern look like?

Nice run and good improvement, practice makes perfect. Since his bottleneck is his stock intake he should be spiking that much in hot weather. Wait until you put the intake on, it'll be a NIGHT AND DAY difference.

I launch at 3k and kinda rolled off the clutch. got a 2.1 60 foot on that run. I have this techinque down now and i know i can make it work better w/ some more practice.

But yea tt2323 Between the third to fourth shift I rocked harzard on the STi. He gave me that o so famous look. You know the one " I got something for you, your car ani't ****" It was crazy the PA said " the 3rd gen RX-7 is rokcing harzard and he beats the sti on the right lane on the video i have you can here the crowd getting into the race great times i wish all you were there man.

I don't want to rain on your parade but those times are not that great. They are decent times, especially for your first time to the track but your trap seems rather low. With the mods you have you should be trapping atleast 108-109 with some slick shifting, IMO.

I'm stock and I'm trapping the same as you in the 1/8th. Haven't run it in the quarter yet since I had my boost problem fixed but that is coming soon. I anticipate to trap between 106-107 on a cool night.

Were your runs made on a hot and muggy evening? That would half explain the low numbers.

Enjoy your car and have fun. Practice makes perfect

Crap, I thought this was a road racing track. You boyz will need to clairify, and use the term "drag strip" so you don't draw REAL TRACK road racers into your stupid thread LOL...

Ok, what in the world would lead you to believe that you would find anything road racing related in a forum section titled: "TIME SLIPS AND DYNO" ???

You may now proceed with your cone killing in parking lots...

Wishful thinking on my part. Parking lot courses twice per year for Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development racer's discount, wide open big road courses like Mid Ohio and Road America, the rest of the time. Please resume your 1/4-mile bench racing. Sorry for interrupting.

i thought this thread was lost....lol anyways it was about 85 degrees outside when i was at the track and im sure i can drop my 60 foot now and raise my trap speeds. Considering the condition of the track and the heat im happy with my time for now but i can wait till dec and jan to run w/ lower outside temps..
