Sorry, but Turbonetics did offer upgraded FD twins...compressor wheels were super50s and exhaust wheels clipped......problem was the shafts would flex and evantually smoke like mad......I had set of Turbonetic smokers in my hands.......Rick Head was still @ Turbonetics.
His 305 M&H racemasters pretty much match my 26" MT ET streets as far as diameter and with 4.10 gears I ran 123mph w/ them. With gears you're able to cross the 1/4 at your peak hp rpm.....ideal.
Kind of nuts, but I hit 18psi at full boost on 94 octane.....dropping off to ~16.5psi by 6.5-7krpm
Timing is the key and A/Fs in the mid 10's help as well.
Posted my someone on this forum not too long ago....
"that 10.89 was done on upgraded twins and stock motor.
i dont remember wyum ever running a 10 on stock twins. i will admit that 11.1 was damn fast for 6 years ago. its very rare to see cars with ported motors go that fast on twins now.
wyum is in the 3rd gen section here from time to time. and he still reads the big list once in a while. someone needs to get him to clear this up.
but i'm sure that the 10 sec passes were done on the 'ASP ultimate twin turbo' upgraded twins. he later ran some mid 10 sec times with those same upgraded twins and a half bridge motor built by M2.
now that i think of it, his 11.1 pass was on upgraded twins also. back in 96-87, brooks weblistat had the record for stock twins at 11.3. and brooks car was tuned by kevin wyum before that pass!
brooks had the record till Anthony M ran an 11.1 two years ago on stock twins."
Thanks again........

"Thanks Vosko and Jimlab.....
*BUT*
Kevin's car had upgraded twins (Turbonetics, I believe),"
That part is pretty much right. They were non sequentials that I ported out nicely including the exhaust manifold and had the exhaust wheels trimmed to move the efficiency island up in psi. They really didn't have any kind of upgrade other than that.
" custom gears (higher then 4.30's)"
Not true, the car has always had the OEM 410 gear set, although replaced once. I did have two sets of 477, hrmm maybe it was 470s, no teeth counting for now gear sets made way back in like 95 or 96. The intent was to use them but I never did. A friend in Texas has one set and I'm not sure who has the other set anymore.
"and also in a serious diet....alot less then the ~ 2900lbs my car weights in and never mind the race gas............."
Yup, it did have a lot of weight out of it. At the time of the corrected 10 second run it was wet weight with me about 2750lbs. More weight came out later but never 1/4 miled it after that.
"But .....regardless!!! it was an accomplishment back then which I still respect."
Thank you. What I was going to say was that probably the biggest part of your ET, as well as mine was driving skill, which really comes from a lot of practice on the street or wherever. 60' will give you a little as well, mine was 1.62 on M&H DOT tires.
"I will run the car soon on ET streets and 10's WILL HAPPEN !!!!
Remember I drive the car everyday as it ran.....maybe pushing my luck with the Sunoco 94......but knock numbers are low on the PowerFC"
There's no reason you can't hit 10's. Keep in mind my motor was unported as well. It was actually the OEM motor that had never been unbolted from the motor mounts. I'm guessing my lower weight and ported turbos offset your ported motor.
As for running the race gas, that wasn't a power thing for the most part. That was a safety thing. Running really high octane gas while racing is why I never blew a motor even after years of beating the crap out of it. I finally yanked it to do the current bridgeport with two T04/t3 hybrids in 97 or 98. Someday I'll actually put it together : (.
Gratz again on an awesome time and especially MPH.

Thanks Kevin........ for clearing things up.
Still remember the Turbo magazine article of your car and still have that issue somewhere.....
Hahahaha.......Adam was still running low 10's in his A&L Rx7, right?
Well...I've run 11.1 @ 122.8mph on ET streets with 1.67 60ft few months back........and then I 60ft'ed a 1.61 but almost lost it in 3rd.......so I coasted.
Next visit will be on ET streets.......hopefully it will run 10.9999999 or better before getting booted.
