Ya pretty much, everything but the pillar plastic and headliner and dashboard (removed stereo system). All other plastics, door panels, air bags and carpet was removed. Other things removed include catback exhaust, all AC, power steering, abs, passenger side headlight stuff (frame and all, to fit my custom cold air intake), wiper motor and wipers, front sway bar, rear strut bar, everything from the hatch area. Little light Oddysey PC680 battery in hatch. antenna motor. other little things etc..

 

Congrats! Impressive performance. Are you running on pump gas?

 

Usually I run pump gas, but this night was with about 50/50 sunoco gt100 unleaded race gas and 93 pump, and I tuned for it (little more timing, same amount of boost)

 

One HP calculator I used says: Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 419.86 rear wheel HP and 466.51 flywheel HP. Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 376.71 rear wheel HP and 418.57 flywheel HP.

I think this is because ET for 128.90 mph should be much lower for most cars, it can be lower for mine too with a better 60 ft time/hookup.

Anyway, nice work - proves the big laggy single turbo guys don't have a corner on speed by any stretch. You need a David Garfinkle ported manifold now.

Nice run though. A buddy of mine ran 11's on stock turbos with a stock motor and a few bolt on's a while back at PRP. These cars always impress the hell out of me.

Thanks everyone. I been running between 122-127 mph for the past couple years but had not put in a perfect run to hit 10's, but now I got the car going faster and its a litter easier. Since I hit 128.9 in the 1/4 mile I think it has to be up over 400 hp, I need to get to a dyno soon, I been trying to but I want to go to the same dyno that I was on a few years ago and they moved a little farther away. And next is just try to hookup and get a great 60 ft without breaking anything, that's why I ran extra tire pressure that time, and see how low I can go on the ET.

Any dyno proven hp gains with the David Garfinkle ported exhaust manifold? I talked to him before about the porting job he does for the twins but decided not to spend the money on it all.

There isn't very many in the area that I knew of and never seen your posts on here before. I used to go to PRP alot a few years ago, lately it's been a few times a year. A few years ago I ran 11.16 @ around 122 with the stock motor and sequential twins when it was making around 370 hp. You?

 

You can port the manifold yourself...I run 19-22 lbs on the street and have been doing so for years.

 

Unfortunately I don't have a dyno comparison, but seat of the pants it definitely makes a difference. I've been very impressed with David's work. I recently pulled the manifold and turbos after 25k hard miles and they look EXACTLY the same as when I put them in - no cracks, nothing - all the welding he did held up perfect (everything was ceramic coated)

Personally I think running more than 16-17 psi on stockers or BNR stage 2s with carbon seals is going to significantly shorten the life of the turbos, 15-16 psi has been fine for me. Are you running race gas?

Ya it may shorten the life of them, but fact is they will make more power with the extra boost if everything is setup right like my car, and they are not too expensive or hard to find a good replacement set as I have done a couple times, it's been worth it. "Running 50/50 Sunoco GT100 race gas & 93 pump gas. My tune.", timing maps tuned a little more aggressive for race gas and same amount of boost.

Hey Tom, I know "of you". I guess you know my buddy George. Now you have 3 friends with RX7s.
I've been to PRP a few times, but mostly with just a few bolt ons. I think I was running high 12s, on shitty Nitto street tires, spinning half way down the track. Haven't been back in a couple years since I fried my clutch (stock) up there and limped home. I want to get back and see how quick the car is with BNR stage 3s and Mickey Thompsons and a bunch of other stuff. Although, I seriously need a tune. I'm pretty much set up for Auto X now. But I'm sure I'll be headed up there this year. Give me a heads up if you're planning a trip to PRP of Beaver Run this year. Maybe we can meet up.

Congrats on the time with the twins. I'm one of the ones with a large single. Hope to complete soon and pull some good numbers.

 

My concern would be how short of a life. I can't see getting more than 20-40k out of them. My first set was toast at 80K and change with no mods. It's just not a durable design to begin with IMO. If I wasn't in the mist of single conversion, this would have inspired me to try it.
