I finally hit 10's tonight on my first pass of the year at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. See time slip attached and pics of my current setup. I'm pretty sure my new 10.87 @ 128.90 mph is a new record for the FD with stock twin turbos, full non sequential, below is the video of this run. I did alot of little things to it since last year, my previous best ET was 11.08 and best trap speed was 127.17 at MIR last year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNPFe68X77E

The crane ignition with 2 step launch control at 7k rpms and 10 psi boost and a Tilton clutch flow control valve made launching simple and good. For this run I had 16 psi in the tires, I started off with more tire pressure than usual, and you can see from the video above the tires did spin and my 60 ft time was 1.57, which isn't bad but could have been better, my best 60ft time is 1.52 last year. So there is still room for improvement.

Peak boost was 21.4, it varies between 19-21 depending on gear and rpm throughout the run. Running 50/50 Sunoco GT100 race gas & 93 pump gas. My tune. My rebuilt engine by djseven at http://rotaryrebuildstore.com runs great! See my mods list in my signature below.

My 2nd and last pass of the night I spun more, 1.63 60 ft, 11.09 @ 127.70. Track Elevation is 1110 ft.

congrat!!
what size and type of tire are you using?

93rx74lyfe 05-06-11 07:12 AM

Very impressive, I think we may be the only 90s sports car to get into the 10s on stock turbos.

chappy586 05-06-11 07:28 AM

Congrats, great job!

Turbo8 05-06-11 07:38 AM

Awesome, great job!

arghx 05-06-11 07:40 AM

Awesome. That is faster than most single turbo cars will go.

GoodfellaFD3S 05-06-11 07:42 AM

Very, very impressive man. At first I thought someone bumped one of JD's old threads...... you should be very proud, this is an amazing accomplishment :icon_tup:

djseven 05-06-11 07:47 AM

Congrats man! I knew you would get it done. For those wondering it was done on ALS seals with my pretty standard street port.

Bacon 05-06-11 08:40 AM

Damn fine run! Congrats

tom94RX-7 05-06-11 08:45 AM

Thanks everyone! Tires are 26x10.50x16 MT ET Streets. I had been trying for a few years to finally hit 10's on the stock turbos, there always seem to be a problem or I didn't drive good enough when it was capable like last year. This time I pull into the track and start adjusting the tire pressure and I found a big chunk of wood in the middle of the tread in one of the rear tires, and it was leaking air slowly, no Idea where I ran it over at. So I went to Walmart and got a tire plug kit lol. I couldn't manage to pull out the chunk of wood, and ended up just pushing it through into the tire, then used 4 or 5 tire plugs to fill the big gaping hole in the tire that was nearly a half inch wide!, and cut the plugs off that were sticking out. I didn't think I should run it like that, I did some burnouts and 2nd gear pulls out on the street and it seemed to be good. So first run on the track I was just gonna go through 2nd gear and let off, but the start felt good and good thing I was crazy and didn't let off lol! and good thing my plug job worked hahaha. Now I got to get a new tire..

awesome Tom!!!!

I am very impressed! I think one of the biggest things to drag racing is staying with it and workings th bugs ou along with learning th car. I have noticed you around for awhile. You probably also have the record for most hp on stock twins by the trap speed. Your car weight is nice also.

Good job man, be proud and talk lots of trash!

Also djseven (David Jerome) builds nice motors and ALS are the shit!

sk8world 05-06-11 09:18 AM

Wait a minute, that track is down hill! Just kidding. Did you stay with the 4:10 or 4:30 gear?

sk8world 05-06-11 09:22 AM

Is 2560 your race weight or minus you? If not including you that means it has more power and more e in it!

tom94RX-7 05-06-11 09:29 AM

Thanks! I'm on the stock 4.10 gears, never tried 4.30s. Haha, there was also no wind. I've heard cars run faster at MIR because their track elevation is low and PRP is 1110 ft.

tom94RX-7 05-06-11 09:34 AM

Ya it will look nice when I get it to hook next time hopefully. Power FC. it just builds a little more boost in the bigger gears and falls off a little towards redline.

tom94RX-7 05-06-11 09:38 AM

That is my race weight, actually weighed a couple years ago, it might be a few pounds lighter now but not much. Not including me. I weigh close to 160 in the car.

estevan62274 05-06-11 09:40 AM

Very Nice!! Congrats!!

sk8world 05-06-11 09:41 AM

Wow on the weight. I got to really get on a diet and car also! Last time out I wa 2810! Did you gut the car?
