Which Yokohama A032R should I get?
I am going to get a set of the A032R they come in a H compund as well as a S compound. I know the H is for hard and the S is for soft. The cars in not my daily driver so tread life is not that important to me. Besides they both have a tread life rating of 60. I do plan on doing some autocrossing but not very much. Basically I just want the best handling tire I can get. If you have any info on these tire good or bad I would like to hear it.
i'm running on advan a032rs on my daily driven FD.. lol..
loud as hell, but sticks very nicely. i've had 4 track days so far this year and they've been amazing in the dry. in the wet though, when brand new, were very good - but as they wore down, they werent great. .. the dry performance is no joke though

What size tires? The Kumho Victoracer is alot faster, and a less expensive tire. The RA1 will withstand the most heat cycles, so figure everytime you take it out is a heat cycle, anyting but an RA1 will loose alot of stick after~20 cycles(days of summer driving in your case) or so. A032 is not particularly fast, it is expensive, and loud. My .03 Carl
Michelin Pilot Sport Cups or Toyo RA-1's get my vote. I've daily driven both and punished them on the track with great success.
I've ridden in a car with the A032R's and it felt bumpy due to the tread pattern. They do stick well though.

i just got the H compounds in 245-45-16 for the stock rims. will mostly be used for open track days and very limited street use. tirerack for $150 sealed the deal. GRm magazine tested them and although the slowest out of the R compounds, they said they loved the tire and its the only R they recommended for street use. keep in mind the test only included R tires that tirerack sells (no toyo, no nitto), so the test wasn't as complete as it could be. they did the testing at tireracks own track. so its like an advertisement for them. FYI...the yok handily beat the other street tires that were in the other part of the test (200 treadwears approx like BFG's KD, falken 615, 215, etc).
I'd pick up the newest issue of Grass Roots motorsports. They just did a test of a few tires and the new Falken rt-615s had the best times. As much as people raved about the old rt-215s they said these are def a step up. I do believe the advans were included in that test i can't really remember.
if you are planning on running these on the street i would run the Kumho Ectsa V700. They will out perform the Yokohama's and give you a little bit longer tread life. They are also less money since you will most likely be replacing these fairly often. I have listed the lower priced R compound tires we carry in the 275/40/17 size below for your reference. Regrettably i do not have information on Toyo, Nitto, or Faulken. Sorry.
