Question widening FD brake calipers

here's the link i have to work with:

http://www.robrobinette.com/bigbrake.htm

down the page theres a section on how to dissemble the front calipers and getting spacers put in b/t the 2 halves and install longer bridge bolts. however, i dont see any information on where to get those spacers and rods....do you have to make your own? have anyone tried to widen the calipers to accept thicker brake rotors? im trying to up it from the stock FD 0.8" to 1.1".

thanks in advance

You need to start from the beginning of the writeup, starting with 'The Mandeville Auto Tech Big Brake Kit'.

We are working on a GB for RS/RZ spec 2 piece rotors, 12.36" diameter front (1.25" width) and rear (.81" width), along with a GB for the corresponding calipers/hardware. The front '99 spec calipers are already wider to accomodate the wider front rotors, which is what you are trying to achieve if I understand correctly.

You might consider either the rotors, the calipers, or perhaps both to supplement your project.

yes, basically im trying to achieve the same thing....HOWEVER, the difference is, the FD front calipers are [to me] an upgrade already. im trying to adapt the FD calipers on to my ford probe. however, our stock rotors are 10.2"x1.1" thick. and our rotors are single piston. i picked up the FD calipers for fairly cheap, and there is no point really to get in on the rx7 brake upgrade considering i can spend the same and get a kit thats made for the probes and they would bolt right on.

after some research, due to the offset the OEM rotors of the FDs are too deep for the probes, and they would rub our hubs. and also found that the millenia 2.3L (miller cycle) rotors are actually the best, 11.X dia. BUT they are also 1.1" thick. that is why i was looking at the widening kit, to simply put some spacers in b/t the FD calipers and long bridge bolts to make them fit wider rotors.

but yes, now i do see who to contact for the widening adapters....i just hope they dont require me to buy the 13" rotors.

just wondering if anyone has tried this kit

Ah, I see where you're going with this. I believe 'CrispyRX7' has this kit:

i finally contacted Roger @ Mandeville AutoTech.....luckily he's located only 1.5 hrs from here. I talked to him about his widening kit and he said he hadn't sold any in over 2 yrs, he couldn't even give me a price on top of his head, but he said he does still have the hardware and can make the kit of any thickness.
