Who runs 225/50/15 on a 6.5 width wheel?
has anyone gone from a stock width tire for the vert wheel to a 225/50/15? was there any clearance issues? how bout acceleration difference? was there too much buldge and sidewall roll?

it won't let me edit. would anyone suggest running 215/50/15? i have a s5 NA with cone filter and high flow cat with precat removed, so not too much power. maybe 225 is a little too wide for my power and for a vert rim.

faster compared to narrower tires right? anyone else have faster times or better experiences through racing?

keep the 205s for a NA FC when prepped for fun street/track driving. i once had staggered 205/225 on my GTU on TII rims and it sucked. Too much tire in the rear, hard to break loose, increased understeer etc.
the 205 were enough tire to keep you planted with you wanted to stick yet small enough to slide the car out when you wanted to have some fun

yeah that's true. i want the rear to go loose but only when i do it. so how about 215? is that too much rubber for an NA? i want to be able to have maximum grip at corners but without too much understeer. i plan on having something like
-2 camber in front and -1.5 in rear or maybe a little less aggresive if need be. maybe 215/50/15 can be a compromise? or should i really stick with 205? right not i have azenis sport and MAYBE planning on getting 215 BFgoodrich g-force sports. are they the same in grip?

oh yah,i also want a little more sidewall because my car is so low. in case i stick with 205, do you guys think 205/55 will handle almost as good as 205/50?

I would put the widest tire you can fit on those rims.... Do the 225/50/15's... you will be able to break them loose if you try hard enuf... but that isn't really the point in racing is it?
Toyo RA-1's are a good tire as well.
I hope you have LSD out back if you plan to race.

Certain width tires simply work better with certain width rims. There is always a little room for flexibility, but you can't simply put on the biggest tires that will fit on your rims, and expect good results.
"My" rules of thumb for optimal tire & rim sizes:
205 tire = ~7" rim
225 tire = ~8" rim
245 tire = ~9" rim
That being said, I am running 245 tires on an 8" rim, because I am too cheap to buy 9" rims, and because it is within an acceptable range

i agree with those recomendations too adam. i jus can't afford a light 16' rim right now. i dont settle for in between.
gnx7, no i dont have lsd yet. so i dont think i should 225 for now. not really a lot of power being put in the wheels yet.

ok, i want to raise car a little with more diameter. but in terms of grip, which has more? a 205/50/15 azenis sport? or 215/50/15 BFgoodrich g-force sports? if the azenis is better for me, car will still be low and i guess i'll have to live with it until i get new springs. not sure how low car is now ( really low ), but i want a 1 inch drop when i get new springs.
how much more weight will the wider and taller tire have? (215/50/15). i want less unsprung weight too.
