I currently have a 20mm project Kics wheel spacer and one of my threads are damaged. do you guys happen to know where i can purchase the "Threads only"
i have a 90 mazda rx-7

 

go to a local parts store and get a new lug stud... just bring your spacer and old stud to match up ... make sure it is the same thread pitch

slightly OT, but.. do the 10mm kics spacers have studs on them already?

i've seen two diff sites giving a yes and no..

Ok so I called the Manuf KICS and they indicated it's not stocked here. But they can get it. PROBLEM: It will take 2 months to receive. Let me know if you're interested. It's about $5.00 plus shipping to you.

Otherwise see if you can find that part somewhere else.

Can you go with extra long studs?
ARP makes 2.5" ones that look like it'll fit...

The ARP ones are 2.5".
If you are trying to keep the studs under wheel covers, they might not fit.

Maybe get those, and bring it to a machine shop to see if they can put it on a lathe and cut it down to size. Can probably have them lathe an unthreaded portion at the tip, like how it was orginally. Shouldn't be expensive at all, probably 10 minutes of their time.

Props to ARD T2 for his effort to help, for something that he obviously is not making money off of.

 

DOH! I just noticed in the third pic of the spacer that there are no 'unthreaded portion' a the tip! What happened to the stud in the first picture?! :0

 

i have no idea.. these spacers are not even that old.. pherhaps some intense wear n tear. or the tires guys overtighten the bolts to my wheels.

 

I think those are exactly what I've been looking for. Are those the studs I need to buy if I there is a prospect of running a spacer? How difficult is it to install these in the rear hubs? It looked necessary to pull the hub apart to press them in. Sorry for the thread hijack. I've been searching all over for these.

I think you may want to measure the knurl (L2), and get the total length you need L1. And follow the table to find the right ones.

Our thread size is M12x1.5 so any of those GM or Hond@h should work.

For rear, I heard you have to get new hub bearing as well.
For front, it depends on clearance of brake shield and the hub. No need to remove hub.

Any local Fastener supply house should be able to obtain them for you.

 

many spacer companies use very common studs for their kits. Usually gm ones. All you need to do is take the stud down to your local auto parts store to match up the base size. The length might vary but that is not critical. An exact match on length is nice but a mm or so no biggie. The base can be measured with a caliper. Too small and it will spin after tightening. This is bad, you won't be able to loosen the nut if the stud spins out.

The stud you have is stripped. This is most likely from a bad nut or bad installtion. I would take a 12x1.5mm die and clean all the others up and get new lug nuts if need be.

Also. those spacers do not have a new centering hub to center the wheel. This will lead to vibrations. It also puts all the shear load on the studs instead of the hub where it should be. The hub is what centers and supports the wheel. The studs merely draw it tight. The better spacers are more money though

Also , if you find longer studs for the car that fit properly then you can get just spacers that have the trough hole for the long studs. They make these with the new centering hub. This would eliminate the extra set of nuts to attach the spacer. They can be made to be hubcentric to the car and then again to the wheel. This will ensure a factory fit.

The KICS spacers actually have a modular hubring as an option. The importer doesn't always have them in stock but they are available.
