Wheels question??

Hey guys and gals I had a question for you. What wheels are out there that have a polished lip and dark spokes?(black, gunmetal, etc...) For example the SSR Comps, Volk LE-37. I'm looking for 17x9 that will fit a FD. Can't be too expensive but right now I'm just looking to see whats out there. Would prefer a 5 or 6 spoke design but any will do. Please post pic or link.

thanks Gun

Not so cheap as to be poor quality but not so expensive as to be unreal. I not sure the price but no higher than , let say $500 a wheel. Also the lighter the better but I need it for a street car.

Volks SE37Ks "might" be in your price range, depending on what Rishie can do for you.

SSR Comps don't come in 9 x 17 for the FD, only 8, 8.5, and 9.5 x 17s.

SSR Integral A2s come in 9 x 17 in 45 mm offset. They're light at 18.5 lbs each. They're "cheap" at $289 each.

Mr. Seven and I have these wheels with 255/40-17s, and they fit at all 4 wheel positions, and my Rx7 is lowered with H&R sport springs. I've got Yoko AVS Intermediates, Mr. Seven's got Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s.

We both got your wheel/tire packages from Tire Rack, South Bend IN for $1700 and change.

Good luck.

Yea I know about the SSR A2's in 17x9, and as of right now I'm leaning in that direction. But I was thinking about coilovers and with them I'd be able to fit 17x9.5 up front so I was looking again at wheels. What offset would I need to run the 17x9.5 wheels on all four corners? Would it bo somewhere around +45 to +50? thanks

Honestly you're not gaining much by running 9.5 x 17s. You'll still be limited to 255/40-17s all around, so why bother with 9.5 widths? 265 and 275/40-17s will be too tall to run all the way around, and if you do raise the ride height to make the clearance for the tall tires, you're raising the cg and roll center.

If you were going track with the setup, THEN 9.5 x 17s would help, since you could mount 275/40-17 Hoosiers all around. The Hoosier 275/40-17 is much shorter in overall diameter...25.3 inches, so they'll fit no problem...

For a track setup like that, I'd go Forgeline RS Comps. There are no Volk wheels that will give you the proper offset. The Forgelines are bit heavy at close 20 lbs, but they're extremely strong, so you can run over curbs and such and not worry about things.

IMHO,

you have two cost-effective options to run on the road, and both are SSR wheels:

Comps at 8.5 and 9.5 x 17, 42 mm offsets with 235/45-17 fr and 255/40-17 rear OR 265/40-17 rear

Integral A2s at 9 x 17, 45 mm offsets with 255/40-17s all around.

IMO, the Integral A2s are MUCH better looking than the Comps. If you're comparing performance, then the Comps make up for the lackluster looks with the ultra-lightweight and strength...

$1596 for the Comps, no tires

$1156 for the Integral A2s, no tires

Don't wait too long on the Integrals, as Mr. Seven says Tire Rack is running low on the 9 x 17, 45-mm offset size, and the Rack DOESN'T plan to restock, as they're clearing the Integral A2 model line...the 8 x 16 sizes are no longer available, as an example...

My track setup are the Comps in 8.5 and 9.5 x 17, 42 mm offsets with 245/45-17, and 275/40-17 Hoosier R3S03s, respectively. The wheels/tires have ONE track day on them.

I failed to look back in this post. Sorry.

Did you still need some help deciding on wheels, $500.00 is a pretty good area to be in. There should be quite a few options. If extended about $300.00 total we could get you the Fikses.

Volks are an option as well. I do get the SSR comps and A2's, however tirerack has them on special and it's cheap. Otherwise, I should be able to get you the Comps for a better deal, about $50.00 less on the set.

If you're still interested let me know,

Thanks, Rishei
