wheels that fit an FD with StopTech front brakes?

I have a '93 FD that I bought this spring that I am preparing for street and track use (HPDEs). I want to upgrade the brakes, and the StopTech front brakes with the 13" rotors look attractive. However, I understand that the calipers are thicker than some other brands like AP, so not just any 17" wheel will work. StopTech publishes a template on their website that you can print out and try out on your wheels to check fitment. However, I currently only have the stock 16" wheels. Anyone out there have the StopTech brake kit on an FD? If so, would you share with me which wheels you have found that work?

my gram lights 57pro's still have over an inch of clearance between the spoke and the caliper. my front wheel is an 18x9 with a +38 offset. not sure if it'll help ya much, but thought i'd throw it out there. i know there's a few people whom were just recently discussing this kit. might do a search and see what it comes up with

The kit hasn't been out long enough to develop a database yet of what wheels will work or not. I have heard problems of fitting the kit with Fikse FM-5 wheels. If you are REALLY concerned about it, I would look at one of the AP kits instead, as they are significantly narrower. All that said, a GOOD wheel vendor should be able to tell you if they will fit or not, since Stoptech was good enough to develop a fitment guide.

Or you can move up to 18" wheels and have more fitment options....

Well,

Since Tyler has got the 18s, he now recommend 18s

I also feel the same as most wheels and tires are very very close in price in both sizes.

I can't wait until I can get a set of CCW's for my car. I love those wheels.

I just put mine on the other day... They've been ready to put on since march or so but with the car being down I didn't do it until the other day when it got closer to completion.. They are amazing looking wheels.

I haven't installed My Stop Techs, but they actually should fit under most wheels. The only place you may have problems will be with wheels that are modular and/or have the deep-dish effect (like Fikse's for instance).

Put it this way, I remember Manny (SleepR1) posting that he needed something like 40mm clearance to get over his RZ brakes... the ST's only need about 25mm.

Also,
You may be able to fax/email that template to the manufacturer's customer service rep., to have them make sure they'll fit. Than's what I did.

my 17" Fiske FM 10's did not fit, I needed to have 1/4" wheel spacers made.

Tire Rack had the StopTech templates, and was able to assure me that the SSR GT1's (17x9 all around) would fit, and they did, with plenty of room to spare.
