I use Eagle One wheel cleaner; the kind safe for painted finishes. I spray it on liberally and let soak a few minutes. Then spray with high pressure from hose. The high pressure is important; work slowly around the wheel with the hose and you'll see the grime blasting off. This gets 98% of it off; even after a day at the track. Then I lightly spray again and scrub the stubborn spots with a bristle brush.

I got the RacingHart C2 3 pc wheels also and it is a pain to clean because of the mesh. What I do wash to use warm water with a clean cotton towel to clean is your best bet. It takes a long time but it is worth all it. Defintely stay away from wheel cleaners that use chemicals because chances that you will stain the polish lip. WARM WATER AND SOAP.

From Dazz Motorsports Tech FAQ:

"Q: What should I use to clean my wheels ?
A: DAZZ Motorsports recommends using non-acid based cleaners such as soap and water to clean your wheels. For wheels that are really filthy, you can use products such as simple green – this will get through the grime and ensure that the finish will not be harmed. Wheels that are fully chromed can be cleaned with most commercial chrome cleaners but be careful – many of the Racing Hart wheels feature polished and clear-coated lips that can be damaged by acid based chrome cleaners… Enjoy ! "

BTW, I've been using my Zaino wash when doing the wheels (also Racing Hart C2) as well. Cleans pretty easily. Make sure you rince the loose stuff off and be careful when washing. Don't wanna turn the dirt into abrasive over coated/polished finish.

Cool OK, I'm going to share my secret for removing stubborn brake dust

Armstrong Floor Cleaner for no wax and ceramic tile floors. I use 1/2-cup in 1/2 pail of very warm water.

Wet the wheels, and wipe away the grime. Works like a charm, and absolutely safe for clearcoat finished wheels.

FWIW, I clean my wheels after every track event, so as to not let the brake dust build up.

I do like peejay's response. I do this with my road wheels; I don't really care about how those look; but my SSR Comps have to look sweet on track...it seems people are always snapping pictures of my car on track...

You can spray Pam cooking spray on the wheels to help keep them clean (or at least easy to clean) when you go to the track. Some brake pads have more corrosive dust than others, too, so be sure to wash the dust off quickly (i.e. before you go home or the next day) if you are using a nasty pad.

Max

Presumubly you're spraying the wheel unmounted on the car.

Would be a b*tch if you got Pam overspray on the brake rotors

BEST MONEY SPENT

The best money I ever spent was a Hight Pressure Washer from Costco. For $150 it's 1400 psi and comes with different attachments. It is the best thing to clean mesh, stock.....hell any rims with.

Use Meguires rim cleaner spray on soak for a few seconds then let'er rip! There is nothing this thing won't take off. It ever work for motors and hard to cean stuff.

Max- PAM? Crazy man, never would have thought. But I agree that some brake dust is worse than others.

Here is what you do. Buy the Zymol wheel cleaner kit. It comes with a cleaner and a protectant. Take each wheel off the car and wash it completely. Use soap and water along with the cleaner. I mean get it clean like the day you bought it. Then spray on the protectant liberally. Put the wheel back on and enjoy because when you wash the car in the future the brake dust will just roll right off. I've never tried on stock wheels but every aftermarket wheel I've done this on has worked great.

No you take them off the first time to put the Zymol on ... then just wash as normal for the future WITHOUT TAKING OFF THE WHEEL.
