What size tires would you run?

After doing some searches, I've found some contradictory opinions regarding tire size for aftermarket wheels.

If you had my setup - what size tire would YOU run?

Car:
1986 Rx7 GXL

Suspension:
RB springs, Tociko blues

Wheels:
17x7 +33 Front
17x8 +36 Rear

What size tires can I use, and what size tires should I use?

Thanks!

225/45/17

If the car is making significant power, I'd step up to a 255/40/17 in the rears, but I doubt your NA can make over 300hp at the wheels.

I'd go w/ a 225/45/17, 245/40/17 combo with those rim widths.

No, 300 at the Flywheel.

Seriously though...

Would 225's fit alright upfront? I was under the impression that on a 7" wheel you should be running a 215/45/17.

Yeah, 255's would be overkill.

Forgot about the 245/40/17...

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/MODS/RT/tires.htm

I made that chart to give you comparative rolling circuferences versus stock Turbo II tires.

225/45/17 on a 17" x 7" is fine.

Check out Teds site its a good place to start and you can get a real idea of what the tires are doing as the size and aspect ration changes..

keep in mind those numbers are averages for that general tire.. either go to tire rack and pull up the size and make of tire you want and then hit "Specs" or go to the manufactures website to get the actual numbers.

However... in general... 225/45/17s should be just inside the outer edge of the fenders and be about the same as stock on the inside with that offest.. you may get some tire rub on the fender lip if you hit a bump real hard, dunno.. but it should pass inspection !!!!!!!!

That said, would it be better to go with a 215 up front and a 225 in the back? What is the chance that I'll get fender rub? I'm assuming that you are talking about the fronts only - right?
