What happened to my suspension?

I hit a curb on the front passanger side. When I got the front end aligned, the camber on the wheel was way off. He set it to the furthest negative setting, and the wheels is still off and the car pulls to the right slightly. Could this be a damaged lower control arm? Thanks.

I hope you didn't hit that curb going at 180 mph! That would explain your problem I haven't had a long enough stretch of road to peg speedo. The closest I got was an indicated 170 mph...

The lower control arm is a very strong piece. It's forged steel (I think). In fact the lower control ball joint is what goes bad. It's possible you bent a tie rod. That's where toe is adjusted. The camber differences shouldn't make the car pull to one side. It sounds like a toe in/out difference between left and right wheels.

The lower control arm is actually made of aluminum - notice the nice silver cover that does not rust.

take care

Yes you're right. I was thinking of the upright hub carriers. They're forged steel. The paint must be very durable on the hub carriers, because there's no rust on this suspension piece, and my car's 9 years old with 89,000 miles!
