Warped rotors, can they damage anything?
Well my rotors seem to be warped, I can feel them vibrate under braking and such. I plan on picking up some new front rotors, but I am just wondering if I should install them right away, or could I drive around with the warped rotors until I had the extra free time to install them?
Thanks for your time.

Ok I did alittle research, seems to be that many people believe that getting them turned will not last for very long, and that replacing them would be the best idea. Anybody else have any input. (Not that DamonB's input is bad, it is really helpful)

I had major warping problems with my car. It was caused by a few things. One was using the stock pads on the track. When I came to a stop they would fuse to the rotor leaving a nice place that caused a vibration. In addition stopping with hot pads can warp or crack rotors. (Some people say warping never ever happens and that only vibration from pad material happens... BS BS BS!) Anyway if it is just pad material turning them is fine. If they are actually warped replace them. Mine were so badly warped that they couldn't even get them on the turning machine evenly and refused to turn them for fear of destroying the machine. When placed on a perfectly flat surface you could even visually see the warpage and wobble the rotor around like a table with one short leg. Even the hats were slightly warped. There isn't too much danger to driving with them except that ABS will kick on erratically under hard braking.
So I replaced the rotors. Things got much better but I still felt vibrations under braking. It turned out to be one of my wheel bearings. I actually replaced one set of good rotors because of this.
My advice is to get the rotors turned unless you want drilled or slotted rotors as a nice upgrade. (Do your research on this too as drilled rotors can easily crack on the track.) More than likely they aren't warped as it is actually pretty rare.
If you still feel vibration it is probably something else like unbalanced tires, a bad suspension bit or bad bearings. IMHO these factors are what give turning rotors a bad rap. Sure the vibration comes back because the rotor wasn't the problem or the rotor is being damaged by another bad component.

I see, I have yet to decide what to do. I already have cross drilled rotors that came with the car, but I can get a brand new pair of front Powerslot slotted rotors for $150.
BTW-How much would it cost to get them turned?

I recently had a problem with my rotors being warped. I just took them in and had them turned. Now they are good as new. I replaced the pads at the same time. As DamonB stated, once the rotors have been turned a few times, they will reach a minumum thickness, and will have to be replaced. If your rotors are severely warped, they may not be able to turn them. I suggest that you have them turned asap. The problem will only get worse, and you may warp them beyond repair.
I don't blame you for not trusting DamonB. He makes a lot of posts, giving people good advice, and asking nothing in return. Why would you trust someone like that

I didn't say I didn't trust him. Just looking for him and others to comment on other people's beliefs that turning rotors is a waste of time. I'm sorry if you or others took that the wrong way.

The thing to do is to remove your rotors and see if they can be turned. If they can then your problem gets fixed for little money. If they are out of spec then you'll have to replace them anyway. No sense in spending money unless you need to IMO.
