Tyre horror story - Can this be fixed?

Hey guys.

Today I got my veilside andrew racing wheels in - 19x12 and 19x9's.

I straight away took them down to the tyre fitter and proceeded to get them fitted.

We got 3 tyres on successfully, however the last one was an absolute shocker (see images).

The tyre has folded in half and is now impossible to get off or to pull out. The tyre fitters tried every avenue possible. They recommended that I go see another shop who has a "Air Blaster". I tried that and was unsuccessful. That shop told me that I will have to cut it off and start again.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before ?

Am I going to have to cut it off ?

It's only been a few hours since I've got the tyre fitted, but if the tyre is folded over like that for an extensive period of time, will it damage the tyre ?

Cheers

Cheers

What does the other side look like?

I would try using starting fluid to blow the tire out. But do that at your own risk.

I wouldn't use water on what is essentially a gasoline fire. That's not a good idea.

How old are the tires? Check the side for the date

that sucks , But I dont know if I would personally risk the Wheel , for some all season tires .. I'm sure they could force it out , But the aspect of damaging the wheel probably scaring them from trying anything drastic

i've used the Lighter fluid trick and i sincerely doubt it will fix that .

The tyres are brand new as well as the wheels.

The other side is fine. It's not folded over.

It's just the one side that's really folded over and tucked in.

half the time the tire would Light up . we tried multiple times If you are afraid to use water , then i'd suggest you not try in the first place as it would be cheaper and less mess to take it to a shop than it would be to use a fire extinguisher

P.S water worked fine

I think he's referring to the fact that using water to quench an oil/fuel fire is a bad idea and NOT the correct thing to use. Water will just spread the burning liquid if it's really going, that's kinda fire fighting 101.

Yes I know , But honestly had it been any kind of dangerous , and had water not done the job very easily I wouldn't advocate it . also had a wet towel just in case . But never really needed it . fire went out quickly with just a hose

but thats besides the point , it will probably not work for the OP as there is no bead for the explosion to push it will just escape through the massive gap in the tire .

Take it back off and this next time use plenty of tire lube.

As the inside bead is installed in the drop center twist the tire with the lubed bead and lubed rim to move it as far to its inside wheel well position as possible.

Then install the outside bead.

This isnt your problem. The tire shop needs to deal with it. If they cant get it on, they need to cut it off and get you a new tire ................... or at least that's the way it works in the USA. Don't pay them until its right.

What size tires are you trying to put on a 12" wheel? Also what is the brand of the tire? I also agree that this is not your problem and the shop that did this has to correct it.

Last ditch effort, its a 3 piece wheel... just pull it apart and pull the tire off. Then put the wheel back together.
