Two Piston Rear Caliper
Hello, Just wanted to ask a question regarding the FD's rear brakes.
I am probably going to buy the stoptech big brake kit, because its a great price, and great quality. Also i know stoptech can design the kit to work with the stock rears, or the 99 spec rears, for the track guys.
However, is there something inherently different about the FD which makes producing an aftermarket rotor and caliper that keeps the ebrake impossible?
I know people have put on a bigger caliper on the rear but have to remove the ebrake, etc... what is different about the FD than say the STI the EVO or the 350Z?
I figured if i was going to spend the money on a big brake kit, it's be nice to have a set of four matching calipers, for looks as well as performance. Just wondering why it hasn't been done, and what is different about the FD ebrake, compared to the others i mentioned above...
Thanks.

The FD uses a floating rear caliper that allows an e-brake. The fixed calipers like those of aftermarket systems as well as those fitted to cars like the EVO and 350Z require an external e-brake. This is sometimes done with an extra "spot" caliper, or in nthe case of the factory cars, a drum e-brake in the hub of the car.
If you were to do an aftermarket rear... say with StopTechs ST-20 caliper, you'd want to rid up a spot caliper which they also have listed on their site if you hunt around.
You don't need to do this for "performance" as the ST kits are matched to the FD rears and the '99 upgrade is perfectly adequete for anything you're doing.... the asthetic consideration not withstanding... aftermarket calipers would look cool.
