He's probably looking for something a LOT cheaper if he's deciding between the ES100's and the 712's.

The Toyo T1-S can be purchased for a very low price. $118 for a 245/45/16. Look here:

Where do you go to get them mounted/balanced? How much does it typically cost?

Midas quoted ~770 total for 4 T1-s mounted/balanced 245-45-16. Wondering how much buying them at that link and having them mounted balanced would save.

I got mine mounted at a local NTB. $4 per for the mount, $10 per for the balancing.

Yikes, go to a performance shop for tire mounting. Most places of the Midas ilk have employees who could care less about your expensive wheels. They also use the big ugly clip on the outside of the rim weights, instead of the flat weights mounted to the inside of the rim.

Discount Tire or America's Tire will usually mount and balance for $50 (set of four) and will use whichever kind of weights you want. Call first to be sure, but I called a bunch of local places once and that was the best deal I could find. You can often get much better deals if you know someone, etc., but that's the best "calling around and asking" deal I could find near me. Pretend you already have the tires when you ask, so they don't jack up the price in an effort to get you to buy tires from them instead -- "I've got four tires here that I need to get mounted and balanced...". Make it sound like you already have the tires.

Also, before you order tires mail-order, go to the local shop that you plan to have mount your mail-order tires and see if they can beat the total installed price. Take the magazine ad or print out the web page that shows the price, and also be sure to research the shipping costs before you go. The tire shop will know you have to pay shipping and pay for mounting and balancing, so don't try to BS them on that. They often won't budge much on the unit price of the tires, but can end up saving you money by eliminating shipping costs and giving you a break on mounting and balancing if you buy the tires from them.

After owning both in the same size, ES100's are far better. Not yet sure about the wear between the two, but performance wise the yoks are the way to go.

Well I got the yoks es 100 just came in and they look awsome to me, thread pattern speaking of. I got 275-40-17 for Mito O.Z Rims, my size is 17x10. I use to have the 255-40-17 but I had blew on the highway and bend the rims and tire is beyond repair. Now I have to buy 2 new tires because yokohamma stop making the thread pattern desgin I have about 2 years ago. Btw does anyone know if that size will rub on my fenders?
