Tire size and type (dry traction) for 2nd gen 17 by 7 wheels?

I decided on the rims I am getting, only size available is 17 by 7 (wanted 17 by 8 or espicially 16") but they only way 14lbs and can get them for 175 a piece. Anyway what size tires will fit on them, I want as wide as possible that still looks decent and maximum dry pavement traction with good wear characteristics. I prefer the looks of like a Falken Azenias or Yokahama Parada and don't care about wet or all season traction. What size and type is recommended for an 87 Turbo II?

Stock on a Turbo 2 is 205/55/16, I also just bought 17 rims and am now deciding on what tires to buy. My choices were 215/45 or 225/45 X 17 X 8". So on a 17 X 7 to probably use a 215, depending on the offset. Im down to Toyo Proxes TS1 or Bridgestone Pole SO3.
