Time to lose the stocky look

Hey everybody I just got my first rx-7 about 2 months ago. Took care of some mechanical issues now Im looking to improve my stance. I dont really want coil overs because my town has shitty roads but i want my car slammed super low and I want new wheels. Anyone able to help me out with what works for suspension and advice on where to look for some wheels?

First, you contradict yourself by saying you don't want coilovers, but you do want a slammed car. Coilovers are what allow you to adjust the ride height.

Second, we'll need to know what year/version of RX7 you have.

Shitty roads and slammed real low don't play nicely together. As you lower the car, you need to increase spring rate so it doesn't bottom out. The lower you go, the stiffer you need to be.

Re: wheels. Same concept. Less rubber = less compliance = more chances to hurt wheels on shitty roads.

Our county roads aren't too good either. I run 17" wheels on an FD, with lowering springs on koni shocks. It's rough for a daily driver on the potholes, but handles well. Thinking about 16's for daily driving.

If you are complaining about crappy roads, slamming your car is the LAST thing you should be doing. If you want to slam your car right, you need coilovers. Plain and simple.

Also, what kind of rims are you looking for? Cheap large rims? Baller rims? Lightweight racing rims?

What year Rx7 do you have?

My car is a 1990 white and all stock. I ordered some powered by max coil overs to slam it, and am just looking for a good upgrade on wheels. I was thinking 16's or 17's at most and im not tryin to get anything super baller i just want something that looks good. The roads arent horrible in my town its just that there are so shitty roads. which i obviously wont be going on.

Well if you just want larger more stylish rims.. check out XXR or Rota. They are cheap knock offs sure, but they get the job done.

I went full coilovers on my last car and ended up switching to koni yellows and h&r springs because the ride was just too rough that it was so unpleasant to drive (on my roads).

If it is your daily driver i would go with Koni's with some good springs!

If you are worrying about the road's damaging the wheels, XXR, Rota's etc would work

I ended up getting the PBM coilovers and have had em for about 700 miles (mostly freeway). The ride is a bit bumpy but i can handle it with how happy the stance makes me I will eventually get some Rota P45r's but i need to get a rebuild first since i still blow smoke at high rpm's under load. anyway, thanks for your help
