Question Are Tender Springs Necessary?

If coilovers have independent adjustable spring perches, and are ride height adjustable, are tender springs necessary?

I'll say, it depends. If your springs give you the rate you are looking for, the ride height you want, and fill the area between the perches when your shocks are fully extended then no. If your springs float around when the shock is extended then they might be useful. You can also limit the droop of the suspension instead. Usually with so much adjustment available you can work around a short spring without them.

He is talking about coilovers with INDEPENDENT spring perches and ride height. The situations you are talking about do not exist with coilovers of this type. Your situation occurs with the typical entry-level coilovers that use the spring perch to control ride height.
