stock wheels on FD???please help!
stock wheels on FD???please help!
I have a 93' FD and I wanted to know if any one here has every polished there stock sand casted rims before?is it better to have a profesional do it or can I do it my self?I know I would need a polishing wheel and paste with diferent gritts and some sand paper to take off the sand cast. please give me your input thanks!

The stock wheels are squeeze cast, so it doesn't seem like the roughness would be from sand. But that is beside the point...
The only shiny stock wheels I have seen where chromed. I am not sure polishing the stock wheels will get you a mirror-finish if that is what you are looking for. It would be a lot of work, and there will be pits and stuff in the aluminum that will preclude a perfect finish.
You'll need to clear-coat the wheels if you do polish them, or the surface will oxidize quickly. My polished intake manifold, piping, etc. only looked mirror-like before I installed it. It gets dulled during the install and then from general life under the hood (coolant, dirt, etc.) it dulls more. And that is stuff under the hood - I am sure wheels would get ugly even faster without some protection.
