Sticky Rubber

I just picked up some FD wheels and am searching for some good tires for them now. What are some good road race/auto x tires. I need something with a stiff sidewall and has good traction during maneuvering. Also, how wide of a tire can I fit on these and not worry about any kind of rubbing? (on an FC) and what size spacers do I need?

Thanks

The widest you can fit on the FD wheel is 245. I don't know about FC fitment though, so someone else will have to comment on that. For a sticky road tire i'd recommend the Hankook Ventus RS-2 and Falken Azeni 615. A step below that would be Kumho Ecsta MX (also a very good tire). Just below that would be a Kumho 712, Avon M Tech 500, Fuzion ZRi...and there are a lot of other good ones that i haven't mentioned. These are just some that i am personally familiar with. Hope that helps.

I'd highly recommend RA-1s.

If you're looking for a competition tire there is nothing faster than the Kumho V710. If it's your first time on race rubber I'd recommend a set of Kumho Victoracers though. They are very quick, will take abuse and are easy for the driver to read.

Forgot to mention these need to be street tires. Preferably a good all around tire, I need some good wet traction too.

Kumho MX.

or if you want to be cheaper run the Hankook RS2 Z212. they come in 245/45/16 and I remember when I was trying to get them in Canada they were about 20% cheaper than the MX. But hankook canada didn't have the 245/45/16 tire size.

Up front, without coilovers, I fit 225's fine. Some people say theirs rub, mine do not. This is on a stock sized wheel. (16x7 +40mm)

In the back I'm really not sure, I just went 225 all around, because all my wheels are the same size.

Someone else will post up though, I'm sure.

Mods in sig.

James

EDIT: Some people don't like runing FD wheels on FC's, they say it needs huge spacers.

Well I had 17x8's on with 225's all around with sus. tech. springs and agx's and those didn't rub, I'd imagine 245's should be ok, just thought i'd double check before I go spending money.

Sure, 245's will fit fine up front IF you have coilovers AND you roll the fender lips AND you have a perfect offset. You can even get 255's like that, or so I've heard. For a stock suspension (or with stock type springs) the widest you can go up front without rubbing is 235, and some will fit, and some won't and again, you need to have pergect offsets. In reality a 225 is about all you can fit in front, and you should probably run them all around for balance, as staggered setups tend to understeer much more.
