Question spindle replacement? coil over upgrade?

hit a curb the other day so i took my car in to get looked at, lower ball joint was clearly bent so i replaced that, mechanic says lower control arm needs to be replaced as well as the spindle, after reading a little i am skeptical about the control arm because some of the members have write'n that they dont bend easily and i didn't hit the curb that hard nor does it look bent (to the naked eye). as for the spindle i have been considerding upgradeing to coil overs for a while. would purchaseing and installing coil overs by-pass the spindle problem or completely irrelivent, i drive a 87 non-turbo, new to the forum so any and all advice / suggestions would be appriciated

coil overs dont bypass the spindle. find a good used one, they are all the same 86-91.

the arm is tough, but can be bent, again used arms are cheap and easy

changing the spindle is actually quite easy, specially up front due to the serviceable bearings. all you have to do is disconnect everything from the spindle, take out the bearings (15 minute job), then do the reverse. when you put the new bearings on, you might have to press in new races, thats relatively easy. doing the brakes is easy. all in all, i would quote you for 3 hours total, i could probably have it completely done and driving in under 2. and im a mechanic!
