sagging in the front end??

My 93 has 6 month old racing beat springs and bilstein shocks. I let it sit over the winter and now the drivers side front end sits about 1-2 inches lower than the passenger side. In fact, the tire is up inside the fender...so when ever I turn or hit a bump of any size it grinds into the liner. The passenger side is just fine...the fender is about 1/2" above the wheel.

So far I have taken the springs off and measured them and found nothing...I took them to a shock place and had them load tested...nothing. I looked at the shock perches and everything looks normal. I put it all back together and the car still sits lower on the drivers side. Racing beat has no ideas since the compression rates and lengths are equal.

any thoughts on what else to look at?

I would strongly suspect the upper spring seats:

assuming you correctly mounted the springs in the car and one side is 1 to 2 inches lower you can have only one problem. the heat treat on the springs wasn't done correctly and the steel has lost it's strength.
upper spring seats are abt 1/2 of an inch thick so even if they vaporized you'd still be looking for more. the bilsteins are gas pressure but their internal pressure is abt 15 pounds. so if one lost pressure the movement would be less than a tenth of an inch.
did you actually put the springs on an electronic spring machine?? there are alot of spring rate machines that are pretty inaccurate.
send them to me and i will test them and chances are we will have the answer.
(i am so curious i will pay return freight

Thanks for the input howard...I have been answering your questions in the HR thread as well.

The other guy has decided to replace his racing beats with HR to see if the problem corrects itself.
Im not sure what test the shop used to test my springs...but I suspect you are correct that the problem is indeed the springs.

Im waiting to see what happens with his car before I move forward.

Send me a pm and I will get you the springs to test...as I need a correct measure for warranty. For that matter Im a cheese head so if you live in Madison, I'll bring them to ya lol

I've had the LF spring sag for a couple of years with
H&R springs.

Apparently, this was discussed years ago on what was
the (big list).

I searched everywhere with no luck.

Unfortunately, I think it's a chassis twist, but I'm not
certain. I used extra spring rubbers which raised the
LF a little. I almost sent back the H&Rs back to tire
rack.
I tried switching shocks and springs around but never
solved the problem........ I'm using stock shocks and the rears measure equal but
the LF is 1" lower than the RR.

Are we the only two with this problem or doesn't anyone
actually give a ****, or even check when they upgrade
there wheels.

Basically, I had 1" of sag with the original springs and
shocks (50k mi.).
Replaced shocks with originals and new H&Rs and still
had 1" sag on LF.

I've had my H&Rs for 4+ years. No sagging. The LF corner always sits lower with the FD Rx7. It's peculiar, and no one has an explanation. Here are my height measurements from the highest point of the fender well lip to the ground in inches with 1/3-tank of gas:

LF: 25
RF: 25-1/8
LR: 25-1/4
RR: 25-1/2

Note there's a 1/2-inch difference between RR and LF. Could be due to DP/MP/CB mods (unloaded 100 lbs of exhaust plumbing).

Well, I just replaced my spring seats. The front right is still too low with the HKS springs (the springs are only supposed to lower 0.4" front, the front right was 24.4" ). My mechanic still had to use shims to get the height up to 25" with the new spring seats. I don't get it. The HKS springs are less than a year old and are manufactured in an ISO 9001 factory. Oh well, the car hasn't rubbed yet, even with the taller 235/40 18 tires.

If I still have a bad rubbing problem on the track, I'm saying screw it and coilovers are going in.....
