Rebuilding rear brakes?

I have ripped apart my rear calipers to rebuild them since I have found small pin hose in the rubber boots.

Problem is the center screw looking part that you screw the piston off of after removing the c-clamp will not come out. It allmost looks like some of the brake fluid has turned into some hard plastic goo?

Is there a way to remove this and should I not be able to just pull out this piece??

Thanks
Ian

do you have a pic i can look at.

i dont think that is brake fluid that turned into hard plastic goo, brake fluid dose not become hard, it is like coolant it would evaporate because it is water based. that is why you must alway pour water on the part of your car that you accidantly poured brake fluid on.

just some advice, you might want to open the bleeders first on your calipers before you rebuild them. no sence in rebuilding them and having a bleeder snap off when your done and your trying to bleed them.

HI,

Thanks for the response.

I ended up getting it out. It was a clear hard build up. Possible from the grease that is applied during assemble??

I have completely rebuild the calipers and painted them. Hopefully they will not leak.

Thanks for the help.
