Question Sway bar mounts, brackets, and braces. oh my!?

I've searched the archives for sway bar mounts and brackets, but all of that info is al least a year old. My question: what is good of the stuff available now to either brace up my OEM mount brackets or replace them with something better? And, are aftermarket bushings available for my stock mounts? I understand that since I run in SCCA SS class my options might be limited, but if I go with a larger front bar - which the stock brackets supposedly can't handle - am I not allowed to brace up the weak mounts? What about the TriPoint braces that stiffen the mounting points on the frame for the OEM brackets, any good?
As always, thanks for the sage advise.

i can't remember if they are legal for ss in scca but get the widefoot sway bar mounts from david breslau. i just installed them on my car and they are incredibly nice for something you will practically never see on your car. they are extremely well designed too. they utilize not only the flat portion of the bottom of your frame for stability but also the adjoining frame rail to prevent twisting or movement in the lateral directions. do a search they are definitely the best option.

SCCA rules will basically allow you to do anything you wish with the front mounts with the exception of tying the mounts together. This means Widefoot or M2 mounts or Tripoint braces and the stock mounts are legal. The Racing Beat brace is not legal since it connects the mounts together.

FWIW Mazda now offers their own mounts through their competition department. Not as nice looking as the Widefoots but they look able to do the job and are slightly cheaper.

Again FWIW I have heard that mazda redesigned & strengthened the stock mounts in 96 and if you order new mounts from a dealer (like MAZDAFORMANCE) you get the NEWER Improved Part.

They are improved but still not enough. Basically the mounts look exactly the same except they have an additional layer of metal on the flange where they bolt to the frame. They are still for all practical purposes a stock mount and twist or fold back fairly easily. Mazda Competition's upgraded mounts are a totally different animal however, they look like these below. They are only available from Mazda Competition (now Mazdaspeed) and NOT over the parts counter at the dealer:

They are not listed on the website anymore, but that last pic reminds me of the mounts that M2 was selling...

Oh, and FWIW, I heartily recommend David Breslau's Widefoot Racing mounts.
