Rear Brake Caliper?
Do you guys know what the part number is for the rear left brake caliper? How much would a rebuild be and where can I get one? Also, how much would a new one be approximately? I think my caliper is seized and am weighing out my options. How can you test to see if the caliper is seized? It's constantly dragging against the rotor and has done so much that I now need to replace the rotor because it's warped/worn it down. Thanks for any suggestions, -Joe

If you have the urge to upgrade, take a look at the Group Buy section for the bigger Mazda RS/RZ brake group buy. dclin and the RX-7 Store have worked out a special price for the Mazda parts (calipers, pads, hardware) and dclin also lined up a supplier for 2-piece rotors, all at very good prices.

The group buy ends today (Friday), so act fast if you are interested.

Hey Max, thanks for the heads-up. Definitely looks like a good deal for the money. Unfortunately I probably can just afford a new stock caliper right now. CDN versus US pricing is still pretty bad after duty and exchange unfortunately.

Off topic...Hey maxcooper, was checking out your website. You sure your 9.5 x 17 Volk SE37s are only 10-1/8 inch wide in overall width? Seems a bit narrow for 9.5s?

Try one of those places that sells reman car parts on the internet. http://www.partsamerica.com has them for about $105, and I think you can pick it up from a local Kragen/Checker/Schuck's store. Perhaps it would be best to arm yourself with knowledge of the online price and then just go to the auto parts store to see what they can do. You could save on shipping, you might get it faster, and it would be easier to return to the store if something isn't right. Dropping off your old caliper for the core charge will be easier also.
NAPA Auto Parts seems to have them even cheaper -- about $80. Go to whatever auto parts store you have locally and order one. The price should be the same as the store's online price (NAPA online should match NAPA in-store), but it would be wise to know the online price just to make sure they don't try to gouge you.
You want an "unloaded" caliper if you already have pads you want to use. This is what I recommend (as opposed to a "loaded" caliper, which means it comes with pads), especially if you will just be getting one caliper. Even if you were getting two calipers, I'd rather buy some pads I am familiar with separately.
