Quick comparo: AVS ES100 VS. Ecsta MX

So then I really need some new tires and I have gotten it down to 2 tires for my next purchase. Currently I run SX MXX3 in the front and A032Rs in the rear. This time around I would like something a tad more quiet and comfy, and will have better traction since the rainy season is starting.

So here are my choices:

Yokohama AVS ES100
Front: 255/40/17
Rear: 275/40/17

OR

Kumho Ecsta MX
Front: 255/40/17
Rear: 275/40/17

Pricing is close enough for me. I compared them on TireRack.com and from that it seems the AVS ES100 is the better choice, but I hear the Ecsta MXs is a better tire.

Little help here? THanks.

I have never used the yokos. I have the MX's on stock wheels and I have been very pleased.

The Kumho MX's are a better tire. The ES100's are nice, low cost solutions but not the best for grip and treadwear.

They're both good tires, no doubt...

I run teh ES100s on the 7, and have a set of ES100's for the Protege sitting in the entrance hall waiting to go on...

The ES100 is more of a street tire, and teh MX is more a dual duty street/track tire. The ES100's are great in the rain too, I dunno about the MX.

basically, the ES is a nice sticky all around tire.. Best bang for your buck out there...

The MX is going to be a bit stickier, but not last as long, and I dunno about wet traction.

Personally I got the Es100's because the MX's aren't made in proper sizes, but both ae good tires.
