nicest wheels EVER (no RX7 content)

Normally i don't make junk posts, but i just had to share:

i went to the gym last night and ended up talking with a guy w/ a black E46 M3.

He'd just mounted his brand new set of 19" Fikse Profil 10's with standard polished lip, and "speed silver" finish on the center. Wrapped w/ Toyo T1S tires.

These are absolutely the nicest wheels i've ever seen, and i've seen lots. Screw HRE. Screw Volk. Screw Kinesis. Screw BBS RG-Rs. Screw Speedline RG5s, Screw Forgelines. Nothing compares.

If you've got the cheez, these are IT.

Peter - you may llike the Profil 10's:

But my current favorite is the Profil 5S's in the same finish you just described:

I've never seen the split 5-spoke design live, but I have seen Profil 13's and FM-5s, and neither are as nice.

Part of what was so nice is all the edges and surfaces in the 10's going in different directions... these things looked like jewelry.

If you hear about the liquor store on Florida Ave and Connecticut being robbed tonight, you've never heard of me... :-)

Hey, I was in there Friday night picking up some Ketel One! Jack someplace in your own neighborhood

The setup you referred to above is also on Fiske's web gallery:

All opinion of course, but nothing from Racing Hart even holds a candle to Fikse.

I actually have a set of Fikse FM-10s on my car right now (not mine), and these Profils were just that much nicer.

I looked at Fikse FM10s & Profil 10's & could not see a real difference. I spoke with Fikse & they mentioned the Profil can handle a larger brake caliper, but other than that, there was no difference. However, they are heavier than the FM10s since more metal is used on the rim periphery. I'm not going to track my car and I'm already using steel braided brake lines, Motul race fluid, and race pads....should be good enough for street use.

I said to myself, why do I want a slightly heavier rim that cost another 10% more cash or so? I went with the FM10s...polished lip & Speed Silver inserts. Hope I made the right choice....I pick them up when my tires arrive next week.

I got 17 X 8.5s (245/40) up front and 17 X10s in the rear (275/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3).

Now my CYM will not be so squirrly

See ya,
-Matt

Just go for it Peter! Personally I like the Profil 13s in 9.5 x 17 all around.

HRE's are heavier, and twice the price. Mostly a show wheel, not really a performance wheel like a Fikse (how many racecars do you see with HREs?) I also fail to see how they are nicer, they're just more expensive (so are kenisis for that matter)

Straight lip:
Mostly for show, because its heavier... the center is what weighs. I certainly don't like the CCW center-from-a-15"-wheel look, but in my opinion the Fikse is a nice compromise.

You can get CP035Rs at wheel source, but i don't get how anyone likes them better than Fikse's. They look cheap in comparison, and actually aren't much cheaper. They aren't even custom built. Then again i guess lots of people think *white* Volk wheels are cool. To each his own I guess

ptr,

can you get a pic of what the speed silvers look like? I have a hard time seeing the difference from the fiske website. I had my mind set on the full polish....

would like your opinion on the different polish.

THANKS!

I don't know what i can do about a pic, but I actually like the standard "technipolish" better than full polished. Its basicully what Japanese wheel makers call "diamond cut".

Speed silver lools sorta like the finish on new M3 wheels... like a high-luster paint. its actually a very thin paint. If i see the guy again a the gym, i'll try and snap a digi pic.
