@ littlez187...
I believe the statement you made about everyone being followers is what may have offended some forum members.

I guess Barban seems to have wantted to publicly express his opinion of your wheels...

You should be aware that posting your pics publicly on a forum can generate comments you may not like so take it with a grain of salt...

Also, The Infinity wheels you chose are an interesting choice. Not my style or like BUT it is YOUR car and as long as your pleased who cares what others think...

That was the least disrespectful comment I could make and still express my opinion.

Before edit it was more like:

"those rims would look great in a garbage can!"

A lot of people do not appreciate 19" wheels on rx7's, or drifting, or LS1 conversions and we're here to talk about it. So, if you don't want your wheels to be applauded or criticized don't post them here. This forum has lots of great members contributing to more than the showboating thread. If you want a bunch of sheep that tell you how awesome you 19's are head on over to your local rice forum.

On the last note!! On This No win Situation

1. First of all I was defending another member from some dis-respectful members on here and the attention switch to me. Which is No problem. I just wish it was more a face to face in person argument

2. I agree 100% that any picture posted on here can be criticized "Respectfully" like some member's have.Which i have no problem with. What I have a problem with are online gangsters wannabes talking crazy disrespecting some members. "Hidden behind a computer" Hating cuz maybe they cant be more creative.

3.The statement of Followers and leader may have offended people? That was a free life lesson.. Innovator and Pioneers didn't become something in life being like the rest. so thinking out of the box is something more of us should do.

4.I wont be the first to be removed from this site for expressing this big problem it has with SOME OF IT'S MEMBERS

I have to say i do hate/dislike quite a bit of the cars on the rx7 forums lately but as Littlez has said. we have definitely gotten away from sticking together as a community. if u don't like a car or what ppl are doing with it... keep it moving if you like it .. comment. or if u don't like ... don't be completely rude. but this is the internet so people will do what they want. free speech and all

couple pics of min as it is right now
F- 245/40 18x10.5 +15(-2 with spacers)
R- 275/35 18x10.5 +15 (-15 with spacers)
ill be moving down to 235/40 fronts because the sidewall is too tall and rubs everywhere.. once i do that ill lower the car back to how i want it cause its way too high off the ground for me(tires were pretty worn in the pics and have recently been swapped to new 275's)

LOL! I wasn't offended at being called a follower, not that I was because I don't think I am, but whatever.

I was just laughing that now all of a sudden throwing some stock 19" wheels (or even aftermarket 19" wheels for that matter) on an otherwise stock car is considered "BEING A LEADER YO" LOL!!! Yeah, you're really blazing some trails there lol. Have you seen some of the cars in Australia that have 20"+ on their FDs? So 19s is nothing new.

I think littlez car looks good overall, but IMHO the wheels bring it down to a decent. The only reason I'd give it a second look is because it's an RX-7. However, what I would say to him and the other guy with 19s is the same as NoPis10 said, that it's your car and do what you want, and who cares what I or anyone else says. But at the same time, Barban has it right too. Don't get all bent out of shape when there aren't ricer kids here to give you all the props you think you deserve. That's the risk you run by posting up pics of your car. And out of all the forums out there, this is the LAST one I'd see as being nice to ANYONE lol.

Honestly, for me 19s are a case by case basis. Most of the time I don't like them, but I thought Jose pulled them off on his (back when it was red). I'm not very often impressed by 19s on an FD though.

Thanks man and to be honest i didnt think the car was going to look decent with them when i got them, my plan was to flip them for the price i got them lol but i did like the look of it so kept them for awhile but i always had that itch on the front looking to high for my taste even tho i had the coilovers maxed out lol.

I think 19s dont look bad as long as they have some decent lip i.e. Ken's car from shine, he had his car on 19s as well (gold/chrome) and IMO the car looked awesome

Or another example VJ's old setup... 20s!!!!

But when it comes to concave 19s it just doesnt look right, specially when the offsets are +30 or more lol

BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION!!!

^I can agree with that for the most part, but how often are we all going to see each other in person, ya know? That's just the way it is. And I didn't say anything originally and probably wouldn't have said anything in person just from seeing it. But when someone thinks they're making big moves just because they're going just a little bit bigger wheels than most people, and in most cases even hurting performance? I just have to laugh haha. I've done WAY more work to my car and I still don't feel like I'm doing anything special because so many people have done what I've done already. Things like thomas_mk6 (https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-292/backyard-engineering-project-966750/), THAT is doing something different, you don't see stuff like that every day. Like some of the race car builds on here. Most of us are just following others in some form or another. But the bottom line is, I don't care because I'm building my car to my likes, not everyone else's. If you like it cool, if not that's fine too. Same way with these guys and the 19s. The guy in VA with the big wing on his completely stock FD gets a ton of **** from people, but you don't see him whining about it and I can respect him for that because it doesn't matter to him what others think.

VJs 20s were a bit much for me haha, but I do agree with the lip thing. I think pretty much any wheel looks better with lip, which is one reason I'm switching to one soon. I liked Ken's setup with 19s too, but I definitely think 18s are the best option for the FD. Not too big and not too small. And not so big that you have to run rubberbands for tires.

Yeah I'm not as big on big face wheels myself, but it's your car and I love lip either way haha. I prefer wider and not as tall wheels myself. It just seems like most of the 19"+ wheels need to be slimmer to be able to tuck them, and I'd rather go wider myself. And if you don't tuck them it looks like a monster truck. But I thought your 19s were a good balance with the lip too.

Yeah I think his name is MX-3 but I don't remember. He definitely gets flamed though and I don't know that I ever saw him respond to any of it.

Your VS-XX look good, Dee. Equips look good too. Meisters are cool but personally I'd go with the SSR SP1 instead. I know some people like Meisters more though. Do you have any pics of the Leon Hardiritt wheels? Never heard of those. I've always wanted some Do-Luck Double Six wheels. If I could find those in the right sizes and offsets...OMG. Or Panasport G7s would work too lol. I've found a couple sets for sale but it's always right after I bought some new wheels and I can't justify it haha. I'm waiting to see how my new ones turn out though first.

EDIT: Oh I've seen those Leon ones before. Those aren't too bad either. Your VS-XX or so nice though haha.

Sizes- 285/35-18 F, 305/35-18 R
Optional info- Flared the rear fenders a hell of a lot more (probably about 2 inches past stock at this point), camber I believe is about -1.5* front and -1* rear, but I don't remember for sure, STANCE coilovers still.

Notes on this setup...these tires, I feel, are way too tall. The 285/35 fits the 10" pretty well width-wise, but it's just too tall. And the 305/35 bulges out a bit on the 10.5, which would be OK if, again, the tire wasn't too tall. I can't tell if there is rubbing when I'm driving it, but when I'm stopped there is tire residue on the rear fenders where the end of the lip (flare) ends on the stock fender. I believe there is rubbing on the front fenders too but I can't tell for sure. I DO know that the tires rub the frame in front of the wheel on one side, driver's side IIRC. I was thinking about just putting a spacer on there and see what happens but decided to just get smaller tires, and since I wanted a new set of wheels anyway that I'd just get new wheels too haha. I have some Shine 20+ wide front fenders but I haven't put them on yet. I've test fit them and this front setup leaves about 5-10mm of clearance.
This is f'ing perfect!

Thanks! It doesn't look like that anymore LOL. And you reminded me I haven't posted the specs of the new setup yet. Which is funny because I'm about to change it up again lol.

Wheels- AME TM02
Sizes/offsets- 18x9.5 +17 (wheel is +22, w/ 5mm spacer) F, 18x10.5 +12 (wheel is +22, with 10mm spacer) R
Tires- Yokohama Advan AD08
Sizes- 255/35-18 F, 295/30-18 R
Optional info- Stock front fenders have been modified with a flare of about 1.5" IIRC. Rear fenders have a very large flare (probably about 2 inches past stock at this point, no aftermarket flares used), camber I believe is about -1.5* front and -1* rear, but I don't remember for sure, STANCE coilovers still.

I might take more pics when I get home, but I should be putting the new wheels on pretty soon after I get back and it'll probably be snowing out so I won't get to drive it much for the next couple months. I'll get some more pics with this setup first if I can though. More of the rear specifically.

SJ,

Very nice job on the flares. Did you fab them yourself? I like how it keeps the stock fenderline, yet adds width. Are they pulled and flared??

my fd project has just finished. Used to have 18's but with wide fenders they looked too small..so i went with 20's.
8.5x20 235/30/20
10.5x20 285/30/20

Thanks! That means a lot coming from you.

The rear flares were done by myself and my roommate a couple years ago, they were pulled with an Eastwood fender roller and then smoothed out. The fronts I took to a local shop and he bent some flares into shape out of excess metal, cut out of the stock fender what he need to and then welded in the bent metal. He does all kinds of body work by hand and he's a genius with it. He also builds exhaust systems by hand and they're gorgeous. Supposedly he used to work on the Ferrari F1 team, but I'm not sure how true that is haha. All I know is his work is very impressive and I'm having him build a new manifold for me for the new turbo setup. He's a good guy and he said he'd do these fenders for anyone that wanted them. I like how these turned out, because I like the stock lines like you said, and nothing fits like a stock fender. Originally I wanted to do something more like a bubble look like supastar bruce did on his, but the lip on the rear grew on me and I decided to do the same on the front.

I want to make some myself though too haha. I was also talking to that shop about redoing my rears as well, but I think I'm going to just redo all the fenders myself someday. I like doing my own work and I want to try this someday after I have great welding abilities haha.

I'm running half liners haha. They were so beat up anyway from the tires eating through them before, and they wouldn't have met up with the lip on the fenders anyway, so I cut them back to where they have the harness going over, so it's still held up and there is more support there from more plastic, and I also left the area behind the headlights. I also have most of the rear part of the liner, behind the tire. I just cut off the excess I wasn't going to need or was torn up too much already to salvage.

I just chose to go with this kind of lip instead. Originally I was going to use the Shine fenders and do the same kind of flare on the back, more of a bubble type. But I decided I liked the defined lip better. Also, I'd rather have metal fenders. The Shine fenders fit damn good though, as close to stock as you can get out of aftermarket. All his stuff is good though. I just bought a FEED replica hood off him too.

Yeah I was actually the first person to get them I believe. Some of my pics show fitment with them too, I just never painted them because I decided to go the different route before that. Once I get back on my personal laptop I'll post pics of fitment with the Shine fenders. I had those on with these TM02s until I got the stock fenders back with the flare, because the stock fenders didn't have enough clearance. Those Shine fenders fit perfect with 18x9.5 +22. You could tuck if you wanted but they fit pretty flush too. My roommate is going to use the Shine fenders now.
