popping coilovers

My coilovers pop when im driving at a low speed (parking lots) while turning. What causes this and how do I stop it. I heard I have to take an impact wrench and tighten the top nut. It sounds like only the front right coilover is making the noise.

Yeah try tightening first... they may just be loose. Since you have Max coilovers, the pillow ball could also have an abnormal amount of play in it, causing the noise.

How could I check this. Does this have an adverse effect on handling?

I tightened everything down. How much pressure should be on the springs? Shouldnt it be snug but not tight to prevent preloading? I tightened everything down and it is still popping (didnt use the impact wrench...)

your pillowball mounts are binding. you need new ones. If you leave it as it is you'll wear out the piston in the shock as its rotating instead of the pillowball.
