Howard, thanks for the compliments. Tons of new Road Atlanta video's from last weekend posted here if you are interested:
https://www.rx7club.com/race-car-tech-103/2010-track-schedule-2010-general-track-thread-878879/page3/

Thanks for the answer. Cam is a real wheelman out on the track as I'm sure you've seen racing against him for years. Just wanted to quantify it(more out of curiosity for me) to see how the suspension is progressing. Hope all is well.

Brent

Hey Howard,

Does the tie wrap go under the plug wire directly on the plug so that when the wire is pushed over, there is a slight gap near the "tie" area?

/////////edit from Howard... the tie wrap is used at the coil not the plug////////

a small tie wrap is laid inside the coil fitting which is pushed on. once it is on you pull the tie wrap out. this releases the compressed air trapped inside near the fitting. (that air expands w heat and can push the fitting off the coil output fitting).

this is especially worthwhile w Magnecore wires as they fit so tight.

"not required to run a fuel cell in SCCA or NASA racing in the majority of classes(none that I know of at a grassroots level"

without getting in to the semantics of what is "grassroots" the last time i seriously looked back at SCCA Regional and National racing there were 21 classes. maybe 5 didn't require cells. i realise that over the years classes combine, spin off and you have various trends so that number may be plus or minus a touch. i don't know anything about NASA although i have read NASA prep rules for my Texas Mile deal and no fuel cell is required...

as to pics of the Stages and Comps.

i have previously posted some pics. they do not show the difference between the two. the Comps, being single tube, have a valve at the bottom of the shock tube that extends downward. the lower exterior body of the shock that attaches to the lower A arm has a machined hole in it so you can adjust the ride height low and the lower body will not interfere w the valve. the shocks are not upside down.

the Comps are on my car which is 90 miles away at Beyond Redline so i won't be able to provide you w a picture in the near term.

Question front brake line routing/mounting?

Just got these on the car last weekend, but I realized something when I took the old spring/shocks off the front... there are no brackets for mounting the brake lines. What do you guys do about this? Can't stand to let them rub on the shock body, looks way too nice to let that happen. See pics.

They do look extremely nice! It doesn't look like the brake line is touching it though? Does it touch if you turn the wheel the other way?

I don't recommend aggressive driving/cornering without properly securing the front brake lines.

My Zeals came with a clamp and clip combo, and we just installed Greddy and Apex'i coilovers on customer's cars at the shop and both companies provided solutions.

After I bought my Pettit AST I found out some of them have leaking problem and after I bought my TrakPros I found out they don't come wirth brackets. I guess I should've searched harder but no biggie I would've still gotten the coilovers anyway.

Angry WTF, no brake line brackets, no mention of it in Pettit literature

It doesn't touch when I move the wheel through full range of motion, BUT that doesn't count bump/rebound (compression/extension of coil spring)...

Yup, agreed 100%. I'm personally a little upset that this was not mentioned in the product description, and there was no instruction manual that came with them, you would think they (Pettit) would at least mention something, somewhere about securing the brake lines. I called them (voicemail message) and emailed them today, we'll see what they say. I bought these things after a reading a few glowing reviews from some respectable folks on this forum... now I'm 2nd guessing my decision. Looking forward to hearing from those who are running these as to what they did as far as brake line mounting.

Bummer man... the coilovers are really nice looking... I won't be able to test them out for a while, let's hope they work as good as they look.

Just received mine yesterday and this sucks and no instructions to boot. Pettit what gives. Spent $3000.00 on Black Friday and the only thing that came with documentation was the TKT Cold Air Intake.

My guess is it's the company in Taiwan that supposedly manufactures these.

Question Engrish anyone?

LOL, I guess I'm an unprofessional person, like everyone else who shelled out $1300+ for these. I have no idea where you got those from, but if you got them from Pettit, that is pretty sad. Why wouldn't they adapt the instructions for the US market (IOW, use proper language in the instructions; as they are written, it sounds like they were conjured up by a 6th grader).

I pulled it from http://www.iasati.com/service.html
The manufacturers? Never read it but I'm definitely that unprofessional person like me.

So this didn't come from Pettit like that? That was grabbed from a Taiwanese company...

Why is it named Pettit Racing Trak Pro Coilover Kit.pdf? You just decided to thrown their name on it - kinda misleading don't ya think?

...that said, even when I worked at Exedy there was a bit of 'Engrish' that made it into the Japanese/English Catalog (actual English catalogs, printed/edited in Japan)... My favorite was the "Fry Wheel for Drug Race" - LoL

Anyhow, Bryan at RX-7 Boutique did a good coilover install write up:

Question ride height pics, corner weight results? rears look too tall

Does anyone have shots of the car with these installed? I don't have a motor or interior in my car, so I can't comment on how the car sits height wise. There is hardly any adjustability in the rears, height wise, without preloading the hell out of the springs. The fronts are the other way around, there is a lot of adjustability. I'll take some measurements and pics when the motor goes back in the car. Also, if anyone has cross weighted/balanced the car with these at a reasonable ride height please post your results.

just remember that there are some false accusations and assumptions being made here. Howard and Cam are both very trusted sources in the RX7 community, people on forums can say, accuse whatever they want without consequences. The same can't be said for Pettit offering an inferior part so you decide who to believe.

Also, remember to look at join dates and post counts of some of the people making these comments, I don't consider them contributors to the community.
