Opinions of 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels?

I just wanted to get a few opinions on this wheel, both style wise and performance. Myself, Im pretty much into higher end Japanese wheels. I had 3 different kind of Volks on my old FC, a set of Works, and now my RE-Amemyia wheels on my FD. For a while Ive had my heart set on a set of Work Meisters or SSR professors, but at the price I would pay for them, I can get a set of the 5Zigens for 1/4 of that. They come in a 18x9.5 in a +43 offset., and 18x8.5 in a +48 offset.

If I do go with them, should I go staggered, or run the 18x9.5s up front also? It seems that would be a bit tight. What tire sizes would be recommended also? Thanks alot.

they are nice wheels but go down in quality compared to volks or work wheels. id ont know too much about ssr's though. personally i look at it this way..... you will see your wheels every single time you see your car you might as well get something you REALLY want even if you need to save up for it because you will either think "Im glad i got those wheels" or "I wish i had gotten different wheels" everytime you see your car

The FN01R-Cs are lighter than just about all of Volk's and Work's lineup w/ the possible exceptions of the former's TE37 and CE28N. These 5Zigens are one of the best bang-for-the-buck wheels you can get.

That front fitment is NOT going to work.

yeah but still if weight were the main determining factor in a wheel then why not steelies?

ive heard of people bending their 5zigens daily driving ive never heard of people bending volks unless it is an accident. a stronger wheel that does not bend counts a lot in my book

Since when did FDs come w/ steelies and what's your point?

I've never heard of FN0R1-Cs being weak wheels. Care to enlighten me and post a link? One lightweight wheel like the SSR Comp OTOH...

The wheels are lightweight, but perhaps you should actually see them on a car before purchasing.

There are better looking prettiest wheels out there, but it's hard to find a lighter wheel for less dough.

Excuse my poor grammar...

I meant

"There are better looking wheels out there..."

It's late, my bad...

Again, just an opinion.

I've used my FN01RCs (17x8 and 17x9) using RA-1s (235-40-17) for heavy track use and autocross and on the mountain and they're doing fine so far. Went off the track at Button Willow and took a hard bump but the wheels are structurally excellent still.

I love my FNO1Rc wheels, too bad the 17x10 doesnt come in offsets for the FD, its a wicked cool looking wheel, pretty light and strong but its very inexpensive. acutally the 18x9.5 wheel has the same concave spokes as the 17x10 IIRC, so thats a plus. I've been daily driving in upstate NY for a year now on my FNO1Rc and they have held up very well, granted I run 17's and a somewhat tall sidewall tire and you are thinking about 18's and probably a small sidewall tire so you mgiht experience some bends at speed if you hit a pothole.

besides the FNO1Rc, there arent many other wheels with designs I like. the TE37, CE28N, Monster Sports wheels, SSR SP1 and some Works are nice too. Have you thought about some wheels from Complete Custom Wheel? CCW can make you the right offset in whatever size and widht you need, and in the classis series design its only like $400 per wheel, thats a little less than Volks or Works.

I have thought about CCWs, not sure what Im going to do yet. The CE28Ns are on my list as well, mainly for the weight. I really like the new Enkei RP03 Type RC, its a bit expensive, and not as light as the Fn01R-Cs ( about 23lbs for the 18x9.5). but its a beautiful wheel.

For a little more money, I would actually go with the Pro Racer GN+ wheel from them. A little stronger. I plan on getting a set next year for some inexpensive track rims.

Hi, i was wondering if the fno1r-c wheels would work in 18x9.5 +45 for front and rears. I'm buying the buddy club coil-overs that have a spring rate of 10(f) and 8(r). Thanks!

Just bought these and I am in love with them! Didn't put the GN+ decals on though.

You can see a few pics of them on my car here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2067608

Are you looking for track wheels or everyday wheels.

Fiske's i got a pair and mighty expensive but mighty strong.

Also might look for a modular wheel so if anything happens you can just change out parts.

Like I just got a a chip in my wheel face and I can order another than uncrew and rescrew and thats it....... I will always be a fan of 2 and 3 peice wheels.

Yes, but stronger. I'm looking at these for a track rim (I have been since they hit the market) and I would definitely trust them on the track before the FN01R-C's. For the street, it would just be the looks, again, GN+ there too.
