offset, man i am confused

ok guys i tried the search function and i am even more mixed up then before.

when you have an offset of +40, is the wheel more inside or outside the car compared to +50?

When you get bigger wheels, do you need to increase or decrease the offset.

the thing is that i could buy some OZ F1 CUP for cheap and i could use them for autocross. They are 16x8 and they have 46 mm offset, will they fit my FD? I plan on running 225 and 245 tires.

thanks a lot guys

Depends on who you talk to, some people's positive offset is other people's negative offset. It's confusing. (I personally only deal with backspacing to eliminate confustion)

Usually positive offset means the rim is shifted inboard - so +50 offset is more inboard than +40. (Usually )

I'm pretty sure stock is 50mm, so a 46mm will push the wheel/tire out 4mm This should still be fine, but are you sure these OZ will be cheaper and lighter then a set of used stock wheels?
