As I see it, if I choose the +25 offset, I will be rolling the fenders quite a bit, but it will clear the spring and perch no problem. If I run the +35 offset, I will more likely than not, hit the spring and perch... but if I put on 5mm spacers, I should clear them, and maybe just barely have to "touch up" the fenders.

Which would be the better choice and why?

Looking at some new wheels again.
I just put new wheels and tires on my Audi and now I need to finish my 7 off.

I’m looking at MB Motorsport Weapon wheels
17X8 28 offset front with Dunlop Sp Sport FM901 235/45/17
17X9 27 offset rear with Dunlop Sp Sport FM901 245/40/17

This is a very cheap setup but will I have any clearance problems up front?
I’m also running Ground Control coilovers with camber plates.

Oh ya, what color would you get gunmetal or bronze. This is for a 10th ann. car (white).

That should work no problem.
You might very minor fitment problems with the fender - a slight roll should give you the required clearance.

8" +25
Why?
Cause I try to avoid spacers as much as possible.
If we're talking show vehicle where the car isn't being pushed hard, then spacers are okay.
If you're going to DRIVE that car, get rid of the sparcers - they compromise strength.

8" +25 with the 225/45/17 should be okay with slight fender rolling - you shouldn't be rolling the fenders THAT much with this combo.

I've tried the 17x8 +35 with 225/45/17, and it doesn't fit with stock type struts and springs.
It always hits the lower perch on the strut.

That's the setup I have on my car and have still plenty of space between the tire and perch. Also that's with really "blocky" kumo 712's 225/45R17(P.O.S. tires BTW) so you may even be able to use a "non-blocky" 235/40 R17 without a spacer out front at that offset. At least that's what I find on my car.YMMV

Thanks, I'd rather have lower offset in the fronts anyway.

I have those wheels in gunmetal, but I used 255/40R17 on the rear. Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position tires, BTW. I'll probably need to roll the front fenders, but this is a play car so no big deal.

Car #1 - S5 FC turbo, SSR GP-theta mesh, 17" x 8" +35, 225/45/17, Bridgestone tires (forgot which model), Tokico Illuminas, Ground Control coilovers - only way to make it fit was to use a 3mm spacer and adjust negative camber via camber plates in front.

Car #2 - S5 FC turbo, Work Rezaz Roar, 17" x 8" +35, 235/45/17, Nitto NT-555 / Dunlop SP9000, Tokico Illuminas, K2RD coilovers - used 5.5mm spacer up front

ok i have read every single post in this thread.. it took me about an hour and a half
but the problem is, i still really dont know what i could fit on my FC....

i want 18 inch and in front i may want to stick a 235 tire and in the back a 255 (maybe smaller)...
i DON'T want to fit spacers...

so what will the wheel width and offset be for the best fitment with the wheels nicely along the outer side of the car (without sticking out)

I take it then the coilover sleeves are a little wider then the stock struts? I guess I'll have to use a spacer soon also

If it's not obvious, then let me be explicit.
Rim diameter has NOTHING to do with fitment.
As long as the overall (tire) diameter is close to stock, that's all we're worried about.

What we look at is the rim WIDTH and the OFFSET.
This dictates how much clearance you got.

The problem with the GC's is that you need to spin the fronts all the way DOWN to get the proper ride height.
Thus, the inner clearance is not the strut body or the lower spring perch - it's the GC adjustable spring mount that gets in the way.
This adds at least another 1/4" or 6mm of obstruction that you need to worry about.

and that's what i asked you... but ok to make things simple:

if i keep the tire diameter the same, wich offset do i need in the front for a 8inch wide rim and in the back for a 8,5 or 9 inch wide rim

does the offset also have anything to do with the dish size? if so, how can i get a maximum dish size but keep the wheel in the same place?

Actually a buddy of mine who works as a tire tech. I've never, and I do repeat NEVER had a problem out of these tires. Straight line or through turns I've never experienced any rolling of the tires or such that would dictate they are unsafe. I'll tell you what. when I get a chance I'll take a couple of good pics of em and post them.

I dunno how many times this has been answered in this thread.
Too lazy to look?
My personal recommendations are 8" +30 up front, 9" +25 in rear.

does the offset also have anything to do with the dish size?
Yes, in general...
Some Japan manufacturer use "hi disc" and "lo disc" rim designs just to clear "big brake" calipers.
"Lo disc" will have more dish than identical "hi disc" rim width and offset.

if so, how can i get a maximum dish size but keep the wheel in the same place?
You can't.
At least not in the front.
The FC runs too tight of a clearance to allow messing with the offset to get more dish.
The only way to get more dish is to change rim model.
"Monoblocks" in general have more dish due to the very flat rim face.

In the rear, it's a little different, since there is a lot of space.
A 9" +35 or 9" +20 will both fit (and anything in between).
The difference between the two rims are over 1/2" of dish difference if everything else is kept differently.

Thanx!!

and my last question, because i saw a nice add for rims...
they are actually for an FD but i read that it could fit using spacers!

but i think the rims are just a little too wide..
fornt 8,5J and back 9,5J both with an offset of +35mm

will this fit when i use spacers? (sorry dont know noting about wheel sizes )

If this has been answered, flame away, if not, ...

Found a set of nice aftermarket wheels from a 96 lexus sc300 they are 16" 114.3X5. not sure of th offset, i assume close to stock by the pics. Is this wheel a good fit (i know it will bolt up) for a FC3C? I read somewhere that SC's have +50mm offset, seems a bit much.

If they are in fact +50mm they'll never fit. unless you ran some of those H&R "real" bolt on spacers.. There usually 1 -2" spacers but ther bolt to your existing lugs and the "new" hubs have studs on them...
