Maxpayne, was able to get a 17x9 24mm offset wheel with a 255/40 tire to fit up front, with just a fender roll.

^Yeah, I believe that's the widest tire you can fit with about 1.5 degrees of camber with a roll (no flare). Some coilovers will give more/less wheel clearance. The known ones so far are Tein Flex and Stance GR+. 17x9 +24 wheels are fairly easy to come by, Mustang Cobra's have 17x9 +24 wheels from the factory. Member "LargeOrangeFont" also runs a 17x9 +24 wheel on his fc under stock fenders.

The wheel will be very close to the coilover, so you must make sure your wheel bearings are tight and there is no play.

wow. a 255 in the front would be awsome!!! I was hoping for at least a 245.

Since i use 255's in the rear now and i dont plan on messing with the fenders i might try 245's

what width rim must i have to use 245's and 255's? at least 8.5 wide? or 8?

For 255 you should use a 9" wheel. The treadwidth is slightly wider than 9 inches, so the tire will bulge on any wheel narrower than 9". You might be able to get away with an 8.5 though. 245's look best on a 9" wheel.

i had a 255 on a 8.5 wheel wasn't too bad looking spec was 17x8.5 +40 didnt rub was close to trailing arm but never touched and didnt need to roll the rears

What type of tire fitment are you looking for? Stretched? Grip?

The front wheels are going to be really close to the spring, you might need a small spacer. Your running coilovers right?

You will need to roll the fenders all around, maybe even a pull in the rear depending on your tire fitment.

So i am running a 225/45-R17 7.5 wide 38et (possibly 8 but i dont think so) with with super now angle tie rods,stock suspension and i rub at full lock on the frame/body and somewhat on the control arms. The wheel seems pretty damn close to the outside of the fender as is so it seems odd that people are fitting 235-245 up front and not rubbing like i am...or just not mentioning it. any thoughts? besides the fact i have the added angle

the fact that you added angle is the problem.
you're gonna need to space the wheel out, and either run a wider fender or narrower tires.
with stock steering angle, a good fitting tire will rub the sway bar already.

Im new to Rx7's and recently purchased an 88 GTU, buying coilovers soon along with rims.

I have a set of 205/45/17's to use for the front, and 255/55/17's for the rear.

The wheels I have picked out are 17x8 with a 4.5" backspacing, and 17x9 with 5" backspacing for the rear.

Im just wondering if anyone has ran a similar setup and what problems if any would need addressed.

With coil overs on the rear, has anyone tried 18x9's running a 255/35's? I'm not fussed if speedo reads wrong - I can correct that later. Just wondering if the 18's will fit on a standard rear end (with coil overs.)

thats what i needed to hear, i knew the angle was the issue (didnt mention it seeing if anyone got creative) but i wasn't sure if all of these "fitments" people are running really fit 100% if you know what i mean. Once coilovers get put on i will play the camber and spacing to see what i can fit under the stock fenders with the added angle. I am sure someone would like to know

MaczPayne is spot on here. You can add BC coilovers to the "approved" list as well. That is what is on my car.

I run 17X9 +24 Cobra wheels with 235/40/17 all around. With coilovers, a simple fender roll in front and at least -1 degree camber is all that is needed. There is no rubbing ever with my setup.

You can fit a 245/40 or 255/40, but the fit is a bit tighter obviously. 255/40/17 is about as big as you can go under the stock rolled fenders.

I'm not finding an answer while looking through the thread, so I suppose I will just ask. I have a set of wheels with tires on them that are 245/50/16 with a +25 offset on an 8" wide wheel. Would these be able to fit on the front without any modification? From everything I am seeing, it is looking like it will be really close if it does fit without rubbing the suspension (just tien s-tech springs on tokiko illuminas, no coilovers).
Anybody know how well they will fit?

Updating my own question The answer is yes!

18x9's will fit an FC without needing coil overs. Suggested rubber is 245/35 if you want to keep the speedo accurate, or 255/35 if you want to squeeze a little more meat on the tyre. With the 255's you'll either need coilovers or a little fiddling with spacers. If you can get the wheels with specific offset, between a +25 and +35 should be fine.

Just on the subject of tyres, putting anything more than the 255 on a 9" is asking for squirm. Not suggested for any application that requires good corner control.

By the way! If ANYONE knows where I can sorce 255/30/18 rubber, please let me know. Australian supplier preferred, but not essential.

hey i went throught a couple pages ... but i didnt see anyone with a - offset..
now i just got my car and a friend i think just orderd me wheels.. but im prity sure unless she picked a diffrent picture that there -19 mm offsets... am i screwd? they have -6 maybe i can chnage them quick ?

edit: they are 15x8 and if they will fit and look good i dont wanna ruin the suprise but if i need to change them i have to do it fast

Will a 16x8.5 +32 fit all the way around?? Also what size tries will i be able to run?? I have 1" drop rb springs w/ tociko blues. I also have a set of 5mm spacers if needed.
