I don't think they're attacking you, rather they're just pointing out that the majority of racers don't stretch or run low offset for a very good reason. What you gain in response and grip due to track increase, you lose in compliance and tramlining on imperfect roads. For instance, at Lime Rock Park, running such a setup will have your *** out in inopportune locations, due to the bumpiness and the concrete asphalt transitions midcorner.

I'm sorry, I thought the whole point of drifting was to show off, not go fast. If all you've ever had experience in setting a car up for is drifting, than yes, I doubt you know what it takes to set a car up to go fast.

It's like you owning a bone stock wrangler and saying that becuase you know how to drive it around town, you obviously know how to outfit as a rock crawling rig.

Or saying that because you have a little cash in your pocket you're obviously experienced enough to manage multi-million dollar portfolio's.

Or becuase you can row a boat you should be allowed to race 1000+ hp 120+mph OPT boats

Or becuase you know how to work a MIG you should be given the opportunity to fabricate a full blown tube frame chassis

Or maybe you can spin a lug nut and therefore you should be on a pit a crew

Perhaps you have the ability to annoy people on a forum, and ...... oh wait

I am not meaning to attack you Tatakai (he he, there is a pun in there somewhere :P).

I was responding to this quote:

i wish more rx7 owners would run offsets lower than a billion.
The reason being is that most RX-7 owners don't drift.

I understand that drifting is fun. You understand that racing is fun. That is why we do it to have fun.

I am sure that I will like my 17x9.5 as well next season, with stock +40 offset and 275/40 NT01.

I'm running 17x9 +24 up front, and in the rear. 1mm difference, but you shouldn't rub depending on what coilover you have.

Running 255/40/17 all around:

So 17x9 +24 works on stock fenders without modification? What coilovers are you running (or would Stance GR+ work)? And would 225/45 work instead of 255?

For a 225 you would want to run a 8" rim

They'll work with the stock fenders, but you'll have to roll the inner lip up. GR+ would definitely work since I'm running GR+ Pro's. 225's would work also, but if you can put 255's under, why not?

I'm still getting used to the new setup, but damn, I would never go back to smaller tires!

Without Blue TII's fitment thread, I would not have gotten 255's under factory metal. You have my thanks for that!

Well I've got 225/45s on my Sportmaxx (17x8) and they're still in great shape so I figured I might as well re-use them.

Nope, I am just running 17x8.5 +30 w/ 255/40 up front on stock fenders.

So far. I got some Shine +30 fenders and a dream of 275/40 on 9.5 wide up front for the season after. We will see.

Yep, I picked up some old washing machine white TE-37 off a Japanese car and had them powdercoated close to the color of the smaller TE-37 they were replacing.

And you went for it and then some with the 255 on a 9" rim! That looks terrific and must GRRRRIIIPPP.

could i even stretch 235's in the front and 275's in the back with the rims setup like this? without the possibility of rolling or any modifications to the car.

235 on a +30 0ffset up front will either need more than stock -1 degree of camber up front or to roll that fender arch lip under.

275 will require a +40 offset not +35 or more than -1 deg negative camber or rolling the rear fender arch lip up.

275 is getting wide for a 9" rim. OK for drag racing.

Huge stagger like 225 front/265 rear or 235 front/275 rear is really going to give you a lot of understeer. Again, OK for drag racing.

I would advise 235 on those 8" wide +30 up front and 255on the 9" wide +35 in the rear. Just roll the lip under at the top of the front wheel arch.

You can't find a lower priced tire that performs the same if not better than the Z1's. I'm looking to them for my next set of tires!

LOL, why not.

But you are still going to be stuck with a 195 width tire or a lot of camber and a big old 205 to clear in the rear.

The front should swallow that meaty 205 no problems since its rolled.
