Just picked up an 87 Turbo to go along with the 87 NA I've had since new. Had 7 track days last summer with the 87NA witth Toyo RA1's on 15X6.5 Fittipaldi Monolithics, and some suspension mods. Car handled pretty good, but was a dog in the long straights. Want to put 225/50-16 RA1's on the turbo, on the stock 16" turbo wheels, and will probably get Bilstein coilovers (someone has a set they can't use....half price).

After reading all 19 pages, it looks like the 225's are kind of marginal for clearance....but maybe! Anyone have any comments with this setup (Ted?). If I was to use 5mm. spacers, is there any safety issue with these on a track?

Guess I'd need longer studs if I used spacers, but I also got a set of 17" wheels with the car (sorry I don't know the offse, and the car is in the shop for certification), wich I will probably put F1 GS-D3's on for daily driving or wet track, and I would rather not change the studs as they may be too long for the acorn nuts that go with the 17's.

I've run this exact combination, and it all fits - no spacers.
The Toyo RA-1's have very straight sidewalls, and this helps with clearance.
If, for some odd reason, you run into clearance issues, a very thin spacer should be more than enough.
You can get 3mm spacers from most aftermarket wheels shops locally...

Hey guys, im new but im doing a v8 rx7 and i love big deep dish staggered wheels. This is what im going to order. 5zigen fnor1-c.

17x9 +35 or +15 on 225/45/17
17x10+12 or +25 on 255/40/17

i like my spokes to lean outward. What combo offset will work for those? As long as it clears the inside and is close to sitting flush.

You realize that the edge of the wheels will end up outside of the fender well, right?

9" wide, +15 225 tire no problem up front.
Might as well go 10" wide +12 255 tire in back - this will get you more dish.

After reading all 19 pages I didn't see anything about going with a wider tire on my stock vert wheels. I am looking at BF Goodrich g-force tires in either 215/50-15 or 225/50-15 and want to know if they will fit without rubbing anything. I know they'll be slightly smaller in diameter.

17x7.5 +40 is a no go correct?

There's a hell of a deal on some 57C's locally in that size I'd like to pick them up but I'm thinking it's too tight as the stockers are tight as a 7 +40. Any thoughts?

Check with the local tire shops about tire fitments versus wheel widths.
I think the vert has 6.5" wide wheels?
215 might fit, but 225 is kinda too wide.

I don't think it will fit (with 225 no ways), but others will argue it will.

Last thought-I ran a 205/60-13 on my 1G and I'm trying to get that look on my 2G plus I want a little more width. I was thinking that 13x5.5? should've had a 185/75 and went up 2 sizes and I'm thinking I should be able to do the same for 15x6.5 which should have a 205/60. What's your thought(s)?

I don't think 13" rims with fit on a 2G with the 4-piston front brakes?

Now i have a quick question, im staring at my order page for my FN01 RC's as i type. Im planning on getting 17x8 w/ 25mm offset all the way around. Is this going to stick out past my fenders at all? my fenders arent rolled either. Ive heard they wont rub from previous posts i have asked in. i really dont wanna hav the mexican look going on. Depends on the tire size...
225/45/17 should work.
I cannot guarantee 235's will fit.

I've checked with other sources too but I don't think it'd hurt to get another opinion.

Im on the same boat as Dkon from a few months ago. Im looking to pick up the Gram Light 57S and would like more information. The sizing I was looking at was 17x9.5R and the questionable 17x8.5F with 40mm offset. I have JIC FLTA2s in front with -2.4 camber. WIll this clear if I use a 15mm spacer? Or what about using the same width with 30mm offset and 5 mm spacer?

I dont mind if it comes down to rolling the fenders. I'd be willing to go between 225 or 235 tire sizs in front, whichever fits.

The 17 x 8.5 +40mm will work with no spacer. I have that size up front and its fine. Works with Tein's and stock shocks w/ Eibach's. The 17 x 9.5 +40mm should work too but a 5mm would help. I have that size w/ +38mm offset and its fine and I do run a 5mm spacer, but its not needed. 275 rear, 235 and 225 upfront. I also have 17 x 10's in the back for racing only, and this is all with no rolling of the fenders or anything at all...

So again:

street: 17 x 8.5 +40 front & 17 x 9.5 +38 rear and then w/ 5mm spacer +33mm.

race: 17 x 8.5+38mm front & 17 x 10 + 35mm rear. No rolling, no noth'n.

just wondering if 225 tires would fit on a 7 inch rim. i know 215 fits fine but is there any safety issues with 225?

You should be fine... thats as wide as I'd go on a 7"

would 17x8.5 +44 front and 17x9.5 +50 rear fit? if so, what tire size would you recommend. kyb ag suspension, not sure on the springs though. thanks

Here is my setup that I want to run.

Tien Flex coilovers

Front 17x8.5 +30offset with a 235/45/17 tire

Rear 17x10 +18offset with a 275/40/17 tire

I am aware that I might have to role the fenders front or rear some. I'm not concerned about that. What I'm wondering is if the wheels or tires will hit or rub the suspension. From what I understand with the front stock suspension setup I would probably run into a problem. But with the coilovers, the diameter of the front springs is smaller. Which would eliminate the problem. Please correct me if I'm wrong or tell me it will work.

I have that size wheel up front ( 17 x 8.5) only +40mm w/ 225 (street wheels). I test fitted a 5mm spacer on there making it a +35mm offset and at zero camber the wheel stuck out to far for my taste. I think with 1 deg NEG it would be okay and you should be okay on the inside with Tein's.. which I had. I'm pricing new coilovers now, but I have my Eibach's on for now and it still is okay and those Eibach's are wide rap spring.

The rears? hmm +18mm offset, can't help you there as mine are 17 x 9.5 (street wheels) +33mm w/ 275 but they work fine too... My race rears are 17 x 10 +32

arizona, I thought you had 9s up front? I'm fighting myself as to whether I should get 17x9 and x10 or 17x8 and x9 for my car.

I dropped a 20B in it, and I'm wanting a decent amount of rubber back there. I know that I can't STOP wheel spin once I build it up, but do I realy NEED 275's back there? I see some people saying that I can put 275s on a 9" rim, but a lot say it's too narrow of a rim.

My other problem is that I'm concerned about floating when it rains if I go with 275s in back. Any thougts on that?

BTW, my optioins for tires are 235/45-17 up front, and either 255-45?-17 or 275/40-17 in back.
