The grip in the rear is MORE than I would ever seem to need when I am drifting. Right after the first 3/8 banked corner for example my rears are WARM and sticky. Any time after that I seem to get massive understeer from the front just not being able to grip. I will say turn and I'm still going strait. :D

Now in the picture you can see my inside front tire is almost off the ground... O.o I know having 20 year old struts and springs had a lot to do with it, and like I Said I already got some new ones of each. Also in the picture you can see I have massive body roll... the camera man is not very elevated, he was almost level with me.

Also although I am a turbo 7, I don't think I would be able to glide the rear as loose easily as I do with the smaller rears. I COULD be wrong, and it might even make the snap oversteer even less if I get wider rears... but sadly I have not tried. All I know is I NEED to get my front some more grip, the rear is fine once they get warm. My gtu came with turbo sway bars, and turbo springs, but I might upgrade the sway bars also. From everything I have read though, SOFTER gets more grip. I am a little confused, but it looks like I would like a soft front, and a hard rear. I have a mazdaspeed account and have access to some huge sway bars, but I'm not sure what good that will be.

Sorry I kinda started thinking/typing out loud. I still have time to get everything setup, so if you guys have any recommendations let me know. :D I didn't mean to turn this into a drift post.

P.S. I'm also changing all my bushings and mounts, but not sure to what ones yet. I cant seem to find the mazdaspeed set. (if it ever existed)

I see you're on stock wheels in front, 225/45/17's on some 17x8's will almost certainly give you the grip you want, but you should probably be looking into a stiffer suspension and doing some tuning there.

Softer is better as long as you can keep your dynamic alignment in check. The front looses camber as the car rolls, the rear gains camber, leading to more understeer as it rolls. Once you can keep the body motions under control then going stiffer will only take away grip. Stiffer isn't always better, but in this case it is.

If you have more steering lock i am not liking your chances of fitting 17x9 +30s to the front of your car..

i have supernow rack spacers (pretty sure the maztrix, etc are copies of supernows ) and my work emotions 17x9 +17 (with a 5mm spacer) only cleared my lower arm and sway bar on full lock by a few mm....

im running 17x9 +9 front with mazdatrix spacer and am 1 mm from swaybar at lock.

my roomie is 18x9.5 +10 front and doesnt hit.

you should try upgrading from the stock 15 inch wheels in front... get something with a lower profile tire...
something more responsive in front will make it a lot easier to weight transfer, which you will need to do a LOT with the stock suspension, to make it slide.

and I wouldn't worry so much about sway bars as getting some springs/shocks that are at least a little stiffer than stock.

I seriously doubt you will even be able to come close to turning all the way without rubbing with a 245 in front, on stock fenders.
shit, even most D1 cars don't run bigger than 235's in front, and thats with huge fenders....
if you do really think you need to go this big in front, and plan on drifting with them.... good luck. you'll need it.

hey guys, I want to run soem 15" wheels on my FC for autoX. I already have 225/55/15 R comps and I'm just wondering what the best offset is and what others are acceptable for a 15x7 wheel on an FC.

30mm would be a good offset, that puts it about halfway between the suspension and the fenders. Get some 15x8's if you can, it'll give more grip, and shorter tires are your friend, 225/50/15 or better yet 225/45/15.

3-5mm would probably work...
depends a lot on what size tires you're running, and also what suspension, so its hard to say.

i'm thinkin about going with the KYB shocks with RB springs or Tein springs...

tein spring are crap. they're really just for looks, they're way too soft for how low they are. Unless you want to bottom out on everything go with the RB springs.

Mustang GT Wheels 17x8 - Should I go with 225/40/17 or 235/40/17 or does it have to be ???/45/17?

Also will I have a problem running this with KYB's and Eibach GC Springs? (Any other recommended set-up)

45 series is tall and square on a 17x8.
Stick with the 235/40 or 225/40

Wow, if that sidewall was a lil smaller thats like perfect.

225/40/17 is not a common size, whereas 225/45/17 is one of the most common sizes out there for high performance rubber and it's also closer to the stock tire diameter. For going any wider I'd go with 235/40/17 though.

Shouldn't be any problems with that suspension, will leave plenty of room.

What offset are you running in that pic? Looks just right for the rim/tire size to me , not being a fan of the "rice elastic band tire" camp.:D

would 225/40/18 - 245/45/18 work and, do I need some fender rolling with this se up?

Therear should be ok, but it'll be close to the fender, and those tires are too tall, try a 245/40/18, it's closer tostock diameter. As for the fronts, you'll need to not only roll the fenders, but pull them out too, or get some widebody fenders or some overfenders.
