+42mm? hmm, thats a close one up front... I think IF you keep a 215 you should be alright, but its gotta be close to the shock casting

Are these ok? Will i need a spacer in the rear? You don't need spacers in the back to make it fit, but it would push the wheels outward for more flush fenders for a better look. -Ted |
Thanks Ted,
I put them on, and they fit nice. The rears are actually almost flush, so a spacer will make it look nicer. |

Ted...will these fit?
17X7.5 + 30 front with 215/45/17 17X8.5 + 20 rear with 235/45/17 This is for a 4 lug FC (the rims are volk gram lights, I believe they are sized for an S13 Silvia - same bolt pattern/hub/offset as a 4 lug FC). |
Yep, it'll work.
Little know secret...wheel fitments for S13 also work on FC's. :) So if they fit an S13, they should fit and FC! -Ted |
Ohk after reading all these pages please correct me if i am wrong. the widest tires you can get under the stock fenders are a 235 in the front and a 275 in the rear? for the front with a 8 inch wide wheel with a 235/45 a +27 or +28 offset is ideal but a +25 to +30 will work? As for the rear a 9.5 inch rim wiht a 275/40 will need a +15 to +20 offset to work?
say i wanted to get the corksposrt widebody fenders that extend out an extra 30mm. i could get a 9 inch rim with a offfset in the +15 to +20 range? then i could run a 255 up front? also if i had to cut the muffler sheilding or grind something to make thse work i would. |

Those numbers will work. -Ted |
hey, i need help!!,
I found some 1993 RX7 16" wheels with Good Year Eagle GTII M+S P225/50R16 tires on them for pretty cheap and i need to know if they will bolt right up to my 86 rx7 or will i need to use some type of spacer with them?? if so, does anyone know where or what kind to get?? thanks for any help! |
thanxs for the quick reply ted. new guy check out teds site in his signiture. it contains all the info you need.
|
thanks, do i have to custom make my own spacer for the front wheels or is there some where i can buy them?
|
RETed, what size wheels/tires do you run on your car?
Does anyone else have an issue with the rear fenders rubbing their 275w tires in the back when launching? |
Rx-8 wheels on fc

My friend had an rx-8 and the rims fit onto his 91 fc perfectly. I have a photoshop pic of the rx-8 wheels on my t2. Just so you guys see how it kinda looks.

Tires are generic 225/50/16. I run a prototype set of K2RD Stage I big brakes up front. They are Wilwood Dynalite's with 12.19" x 1.25" rotors. Stock wheels do not fit with these brakes. The GAB Sport "hi disc" 16's are one of the few 16" wheels that fit with this big brake kit up front. -Ted |
hey reted i was just reading your site and got this:
The rears can easily go 9". Just watch the offset (8", +25mm to +30mm front; 9", +30mm to +35mm rear), and everything should be close. so does what i said earlier still apply offset wise? As for the rear a 9.5 inch rim wiht a 275/40 will need a +15 to +20 offset to work? or do i need to go with what you stated on your site? or am i just reading it worng? thanxs |
Yeah, I was trying to recommend the offset for a 255 wide tire.
The +30 to +35 is like absolute maximum offset to run with the 9" wide wheel. With the 255 wide tire, you can push the tire out a little to get that flush look. In my experience, a 275 wide tire cannot fit easily in the rear of an FC. :( That's why I don't have recommendations for such a wide tire. But if you're going to insist, I would try a +25 maximum offset on a 9.5" wide wheel for a 275 wide tire. -Ted |
I have a 9.5 w/ 275 and running +33 offset... works perfect. Even have Flex's

I run 255/40R17 on 17x9 rears, same +35 offset, perfect fit again... about a half inch between the tire and rear control arm yet there is twice that between the tire and spring... with perfect fit to the fender lip. the 255 wide tire sits very squarely on a 9" wide wheel, you could even go 265 for a square fit. As another data point, a customer car is running Works Rezaz Roars in 17" x 8" size +35 offset with 235/45/17 tires.
This combo doesn't fit, and it's use a pair of small spacers to fit up front. -Ted |
will a 245/45/17 fit on a 17x8 rim?

245/45/17 on a 17x8 is the stock setup on some of the late model mustang's (GT's some of the cobras, etc). This is too tall for a 2nd gen though, 245-40-17 is much closer to ideal.

I will be buying wheels within the next six months along with some 30mm wider front fenders. The wheels i want for the fronts only come in 17x8.5 and the choices of offsets i have are +15, +20, and +30. Now i will also be buying Silk Road coilovers around the same time, what offset should i use for this 17x8.5 wheel to get it to fit on the front with 30mm wide fenders?
Thanks, J |
