Nitto NT-555RII
Nitto NT-555RII
In my search for a higher traction compound that was streetable and provided acceptable cornering characteristics I stumbled across this new tire from Nitto.
Anyone ever used this tire?
This is NOT their soft side wall NT-555R Drag Radial, it is a stiff sidewall Road Race/Autocross tire which uses the same high traction compound as the 555R does.
Think it came out about a year ago, not much information available on it (not even listed on their site!)
Here is a scanned add with some info about it.

If nobody has used/seen this tire, I'll likely get a set for evaluation this spring.

Yeah, one of my MDC SVT Cobra owners use these tires in 275/40-17s all around. The Cobra owner thought the Nitto 555R IIs were the sh*t, at Putnam Park, especially considering the price!
I have no personal experience with the 555R IIs, but I'd bet the Nittos are worth a try.
BTW, did you notice the Nittos were on our SSR Integral A2s?

As soon as my new wheels come, I'll post some feedback...the tires (a set of Nitto 555R IIs) should be here Friday...I'll take some pics...
SleepR1 - Almost didn't reconize the Integral covered in that much bling-bling...

I'm trying to get a good price on a set of Mach V's in Race Satin Black 17x9 (f), 17x10 (r). I choked when I got the price from Rishie...
No offense Rishie, I knew they would be expensive, but damn...not that expensive...
I'll stop over there either tonight or tomorrow. I'm stuck @ work right now...

Kyle,
Yeah the Fikse retail at $990 each or something. If you order direct from Fikse you get a 15% discount (oh boy!).
You can go with CCW P4 mesh with black centers and polished rim lips in 10 x 17, 51-mm offsets all around for $1800 ($450 each). You can then run 275/40-17 Nitto 555RIIs all the way around (you have 2.5-inch coilovers, as I recall)?
Keep the SSR Integral A2s for shows, and use the CCWs for track!

If I can't get a reasonable price on the Fikse's, my second choice is Volk CE28N, not sure if Volk offers them in a race black (anyone know?), but then I could afford to spring for some black powdercoating or something...

Kyle,
You can get the Volk CE28Ns in black as an optional color. Standard color is silver.
Jason Baughman (Rx7 Store honcho) can get those wheels for us at a similar discount rate as Rishie's Automotive R&D, and we (midwesterners) don't have to deal with left-coast shipping charges.
For the CE28Ns you can get your 9 x 17 fronts and 10 x 17 rears. Front 9 x 17 offsets will be 40 mm. Rear offsets will be 45 mm.
My road racing setup was to be, 9.5 x 17, 47-mm offset front, and 10.5 x 18, 45-mm offset rear. Hoosier R3S03 in 245/40-17 front, and 285/30-18 rear.
Of course you know that SSR Comps are now available in Competition Silver (bright silver centers with machined lip). You could do my old setup of 8.5 x 17 front and 9.5 x 17 rear, 42-mm offset for both; 235/45-17 front and 265/40-17 rear. Tire Rack prices are $389 for 8.5 x 17, and $409 for 9.5 x 17. My NEW setup for SSR Comps in Competition Silver would be 9.5 x17, 42-mm offsets all around with 255/40-17 Michelin Pilot Sport Comp Cups all around.
FWIW, the Comps are possibly the lightest wheels out there based on artwar2's Volk CE28N weighing. His 9.5 x 18 CE28N weighed 18 lbs via post office scale? My old Comps were 15 and 16 lbs each 8.5 and 9.5 x 17, respectively.
